So What Happened?

Thank yo ladies for all your responses..the question was really for my SIL- she is 13 weeks preggo. She starting bleeding yesterday morning, had an ultra sound done and everything looks ok. However she's still spoting and of course we're all worried about it. I must say I had a rough pregnancy myself and many times my baby was declared gone and once the ultrasound was done the baby was perfectly fine.
But becasue my SIL is expecting twins i figured the pregnancies are much more riskier.
Thank you!!

I haven't read the other responses but with my twins, I had a fair amount of bleeding at about 16 weeks. I was SURE I was going to lose one of them but they never found any cause of bleeding and the girls are now six years old and very healthy! It is terrifying, but doesn't necessarily mean anything horrible is happening... Hope it all turns out happy and healthy!

I am a twin mom...I did have some bleeding that completely freaked me out so went to the OB, they did an ultrasound (that's when I found out it was two for the first time!). Turns out I had the low lying placenta (placenta previa). A little rest and it cleared up rather quickly and the rest of my pregnancy was normal...had a scheduled csection at 38 weeks, 4 days.

No - not normal for any type of pregnancy. But it's not always a sign of an early miscarriage. Call your doctor and see if you should come in for a quick check if you're worried.

Daughter with twins had bleeding and it was the placenta too low and so they kept a close eye on her. It's usually a sign you should be checked and not always a miscarriage. Some women do this with single pregnancies too. But I'd see the doctor to be sure everything is okay, especially with twins.

i bled from 4 week until 12. so nerve wrecking esp. since they kept telling me i may be experiencing a 'vanishing' twin thing. it didn't happen, but it was pretty bad emotionally.

I knew I was carrying twins within a week of conception. I saw the fertility specialist and the high risk OB group. I spotted many many times and was so worried. Everyone said it was normal and not to worry. Sometimes it happens with implantation, sometimes there is no reason. I bleed some even after the first trimester. Not a single week went by without a call to the dr to see if the spotting was normal (first trimester) I got used to it and eventually quit worrying, because all the ultrasounds and exams were fine and the girls were growing well. I now have two beautiful 4 year old fraternal girls that are as different as night and day. Good luck! It's a trial and a joy!
