Hi All! I bumbled my way through my first pregnancy with a conspicuous lack of maternity clothes. Now at age 42 I am unexpectedly pregnant again, and unwilling to go through those last months of pregnancy feeling hot and looking awkward. I want to find really soft, nice quality, and cute maternity clothes. I know they are out there somewhere, I have seen ladies wearing them! Can anyone direct me?

What can I do next?

Most of my maternity clothes were this brand, and I LOVED my maternity wardrobe. I hated giving it up after. In fact, I wore some of the clothes for months after.

I knew I was not going to be pregnant again. I was 40 at the time. But like you I wanted to wear nice, comfortable, well-fitting clothes.

The Gap is my favorite, then Old Navy and as a last resort, Motherhood.

If you're not planning another pregnancy I wouldn't go crazy about buying quality stuff. Old Navy has a wonderful selection. If you see a pregger lady with a cute outfit, it would be a total compliment to her if you asked her where she got it. :)

I loved Gap maternity. Some of the stores out here carry it, so I even got to try on the clothes and use in-store coupons. I bought quite a few items there for my third (and last) pregnancy. I was glad that I did because I wore those same clothes for a few months before I lost the baby weight. I found Gap clothes to be high quality. I wore the same things over and over again for about 6 months, and they held up pretty well.

Good luck to you and congratulations on your surprise pregnancy!!!

I agree about Gap Maternity. I found some cute things at Old Navy, but the Gap stuff was cuter and held up the best. I'm pretty sure the Plaza store carries it as well as maybe Zona Rosa??? Not sure. Motherhood and Pea in a Pod are all the same store, but Pea is the high end version. I can't remember what the middle version is but I found a lot of good stuff there too, I'm not even sure if it's still in business, but I did like it. The jeans I got from them were my absolute favorite and I wore them for a while and were good post partum jeans b/c they looked really normal!

I got pretty much all of mine at Target and Old Navy. I wore them throughout both my pregnancies (working M-F my 1st pregnancy), and then let two friends borrow them throughout their pregnancies. They have held up so well that I'd wear them again if I were planning another baby. But I'm not, so I'll hang on to them to let friends borrow until we're all old and then donate them :)

Jen:

If you are not going to have another baby - hit garage sales, ebay and craigslist. You can get good quality maternity clothes there...oh heck - even if you were going to get pregnant again!!

Good luck!!!

Motherhood maternity.

all my target and old navy maternity brands fell apart before delivery. I agree, if you can afford a few decent articles of maternity clothes go for it. Then feel good about donating them to a friend of a local crisis pregnancy center. All my Motherhood Maternity still look great and have really cute styles.

I bought one pair of designer maternity jeans. I was allowed to wear jeans to work and so wore them about 3-4 times a week with a different top. Turned out to save me money in the long run.

I would go for Old Navy.. love their clothes, just simple everyday kinda clothes, soft and comfortable.. I still use a pair of my cozy maternity pants.. just gotta tie them tight to keep them up but I LOVE them and refuse to retire them.. They do have some cute little dresses if you are looking to dress up a little..
