Desperately Need Maternity Jeans

Hello Ladies! I need help finding jeans. I'm getting terribly frustrated and I'm starting to feel like the only pregnant lady alive with this issue. I cannot for the life of me find any jeans to fit my figure. It's always been a challenge to find jeans, but now it's even worse. I am carrying all of my baby weight in my thighs and booty. Lot's of junk in this trunk, seriously. Boot cut jeans are a major struggle. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate ANY and ALL ideas. Much thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so VERY much to all the responses on the maternity jeans issue. It was good to hear that others have struggled. While looking at baby magazines/commercials and general people watching, you can feel like the only one who can't seem to get clothes that fit. Very disheartening and h*** o* the self esteem. Well, no luck at the Gap, Khol's, Pea in the Pod, JC Pennys, and Target. I did have luck at Old Navy, but NOT in the maternity department! They have a Weekend Boyfriend fit that worked (although I had to go up in size, I don't care about the number)!!! It fully buttons and zips under my 27 week belly! I'm thrilled! They even have that worn out trendy look - $35 to boot. I have not made it to Motherhood Maternity yet, I ran out of steam. But at least I don't feel so down about it, and I've got something that will do for awhile. Thanks ladies, the support meant a lot to me!

Years ago when I had my pregnancies, Sears had the best maternity section with maternity jeans. I had more than one pair and really liked them. Try Sears!

I definitely have/had 'junk in the trunk' and had good luck with Motherhood Maternity clothing including 2 pairs of jeans from there.

I was always happy with Motherhood Maternity. I also wore a lot of dresses, even in the winter. Good Luck!

if you're a petite woman jcpenney is good. i'm 28 wks now and bought some there for $25. gotta go online, but when they offer free shipping for $49+ buy 2 pairs and then return the ones that don't work out.

off-hand, though, i've found you need to really find one with the right band. i carry all in front and if i don't have some band they fall down.

I had the same problem, the ones with maternity panels never worked. I wound up wearing maternity dresses for the last two months because I could not get pants of any kind over my thighs.

What about Old Navy? Another good one is Motherhood maternity. I had twins and motherhood maternity had clothes for me.
Good luck I know how frustrating that is!!!

I found great quality maternity clothes at Japanese Weekend at the Willowbend Mall. They were not cheap but they fit perfectly and I loved wearing them (and felt good in them). The service there is great too. They will help you find clothes that actually fit you. I realized there is no excuse to have to buy ugly clothes just because you are pregnant! :-) Good luck.

Well, I had the same problem, but for the opposite reason. I tend to be more of an "apple" shape than a "pear", so while my butt did get bigger with pregnancy my belly was just enormous. And I never found any jeans. Ever. Those panels just cut in right at my bladder and KILLED! So, I ended up getting several belly bands and Motherhood. I just wore some of my bigger jeans unzipped with the band the whole time. Hope that helps!

Congratulations on your pregnancy; I am due on December 19th!!

My suggestion is also Motherhood Maternity (if not the in-store, try them online). Last year for my pregnancy, I bought THE MOST COMFORTABLE maternity jeans from there with the "secret fit panel" (stretches waaay over your belly and expands with the growing belly). This year, when we found we were expecting again, I went online and bought two more pairs of the "secret fit panel" jeans because they were so comfortable the last time around.

Good luck to you and your anticipated arrival!

I had the best luck finding maternity pants at Motherhood. Most of the ones at Target were the under belly kind, but I preferred the ones with the tummy panel in the front. They also have a larger selection of plus sizes, which are really hard to find. (I don't know what size you need). They may cost a little more, but all you really need are a few pair - you can wear sweats or stretchy maternity pants at home and when hanging out.

Hi R.,

I had the same issues when I was pregnant with my daughter. My first place of interest when I started shopping for maternity was Target. I tried to buy Liz Lange maternity jeans, but I ran into the legs and but area being to tight and the crotch area would sag. After much despair and looking, I was able to find adorable pull up, nice looking pants and capri's through Old Navy On-line.

December 20th is my oldest childs birthday. Congratulations. I'm due in November with my 5th, and my neighbor clued me in to Burlington Coat Factory. You would think by now I would know all the in's and out's of this pregnancy thing, but I was truely amazed at the prices there. The cheapest maternity clothes I've ever found, and they had jeans upon jeans upon jeans. Good luck.

Try looking at Sears. That is where I bought most of my maternity clothes when I was pregnant. Target too. I know neither store has too much of a selection, but maybe it was worse in California than it is here. Check Old Navy too!

My friend was just pregnant and she has the same issue as you! We went shopping together (we were preggers at the same time) and she found some clothes at Motherhood. Not sure if they were jeans or just work clothes (slacks, dresses, etc) but I will ask her and let you know what she did.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! I love being a mommy again!

So, I had the SAME issue, and also am very tall, so it was exremely hard to find jeans. I finally bit the bullet and bought Seven brand maternity jeans at MiMi or Motherhood (can't remember which one) at Willowbend Mall. I know they're expensive, but it was the one piece of clothing I wore more than any other because they were so comfortable! You can use the band several ways, and they have stretch to they accomdate those "growing" areas. Good luck!

You and I are in the same boat. I'm due Dec. 22 and have gained weight much differently this pregnancy. My maternity clothes from my first pregnancy don't fit anymore because of the weight that I have gained in my thighs. It's awful! I didn't want to spend much on jeans, so I ordered some off walmart.com. They were only $13 and fit great! I do normally get gap maternity, but could not see spending that money. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I got the BEST maternity jeans at Gap maternity; it's in the very back of Gap Baby stores at the Mills malls. They were below the belly and had adjustable tabs in the waistband. The were a bit pricey but I wore them out! They looked super sassy and I always got compliments on them because people thought they were normal jeans. Best $75 splurge I ever made! I even wore them for a long time after the baby.

I loved Gap jeans for maternity. Look on-line and see what they have. Also, a friend of mine had the cutest maternity jeans. She got them at Ross or Marshals.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and have had a lot of trouble also. My problem is the opposite though. I'm carrying it all in my belly. I was also put off by the pricey-ness of maternity jeans at maternity stores. I found a pair at Target for about $40 less. I don't know if you've looked there. They don't have a lot to choose from, but I was able to find a pair that fit at least decent enough to wear.
Congrats on your pregnancy! We'll be mommies around the same time! :)
