Pregnancy Pains

I had my first child by cesarean, 18 months ago. I am now 6 weeks pregnant with my second child and I have been getting deep pains around cesarean incision scar. Has anyone else had this problem or know what is happening? Any advice would be greatly appriciated. I'm also asking for any advice to help with morning sickness. I've been eating crackers and sipping ginger ale when I wake up, but that seems to only help for a little while. And I get sick whenever I wake up, in the middle of the night or after I take an afternoon nap with my son. I'm just looking for other options than the ones I'm already trying.
Thanks,
E. B.

So What Happened?

I have talked to my doctor about the pains and he said that it's the scar tissue trying to expand, and I will probably get these pains on and off during my pregnancy. As for the morning sickness, my doctor told me to keep something on my stomach at all times, and all the the suggestions I got have worked. I thank-you all for your help!!

I can't help you with the pain bc I only have one son, but he made me nauseous at all times of the day. The only thing that worked for me (and this sounds crazy) was jolly ranchers. I had a couple people that I worked with that told me that they helped them, but I didn't believe it. Then I just couldn't take it anymore and I tried it and it worked great. Nothing else would help. I'm not pregnant anymore, but if I ever get nauseous I always try a jolly rancher before anything else.

My dr put me on Zofran because my morning sickness was so severe and lasted all day.. I had morning sickness most of my pregnancy.. Having something like that helped me so much.. With my older 3 I just had to deal with it.. Having a med that helped made pregnancy alot more enjoyable. Dont suffer if you don't have to.

As for the pain. I had the same thing. All 4 of mine have been born via C section. I was pregnant with my 2nd child before my oldest was a year old. At that point your body is still healing. Even 3 years after my youngest daughter was born my incision still bothered me when I got pregnant this last time.

My first I wasn't really sick much at all... until after I went to the doctor and got prenatals. Every day that I took my prenatal I couldn't even drink water, everything came up! Days I didn't take it I wasn't sick at all. I fired my doctor after he told me taking the vitamin was more important than eating and drinking!

After employing a new doctor and discussing it, the new doctor told me just to take Folic Acid and Iron. Every day I took the Folic Acid I got sick again! Ended up I was allergic to synthetic Folic Acid of all things.

My doctor sent me to a nutritionist and I ate 4-5 servings of food naturally high in Folic Acid and Iron every day to compensate. It was great after that.

With my second I already knew about the vitamin thing but I had more morning sickness than the first. I just grazed all day, keeping something in my stomach was the key to not being ill. Got to keep that stomach acid working on something! Any time I actually got an empty stomach was immediate nausea.

My best friend was sick all day long with her second son and it got so bad her doctor gave her a nausea medication used for Chemo patients. She said it worked fabulously... except she never felt like she was going to be ill, she just suddenly got ill. Throwing up was a surprise. In my case I don't think that would work for me but she seemed to be ok with it. She said at least it was just done and she didn't have to think about it for hours before it finally happened.

Hi E.,
My sister has had a C-Section with her first child about 3 years ago and she has just given birth again 5 months ago and I remember her telling me that her incision would raelly bother her with her last pregnancy. Your tummy is hurting because it is stretching and that is why your incision scar is hurting. I remember so well being very very sick when I was pregnant my now 8 month old son. To be honest with you their was nothing that the OBGYN could do for me. I was sick for about 7 months of my pregnacy. Great luck with your pregnancy.

Hi E.,
I had similar pain with my pregnancy. I had an apendectomy about 2 years before I got pregnant that left a bad scar. It started hurting almost as soon as I got pregnant. My doctor told me that scar tissue can build up (even if there is not a bad visible scar) and that, along with your growing uterus, puts pressure on nerves which causes the pain. He told me it was nothing to worry about, but massaging it with coccoa butter or somthing similar could help soften the tissue and lessen the pain.
As for the morning sicness, I also had that and what worked for me was keeping my stomache full; and the crackers and ginger ale didn't do that for me. I got some breakfast shakes, (like Carnation, although the Walmart brand tastes much better, you can find them in the cereal isle) and drank one as soon as I got up. I know it doesn't sound very appetizing when you are naseated, but once I got it down I felt loads better. Another thing that helped throughout the day was anything spicy. Again, I know it sounds crazy, but it was instant relief for me. Basically, everyone is different, and each pregnancy is different, so what worked for you before may make it worse now. Just keep trying all the crazy stuff people are telling you and something will work for you. I had a pretty interesting pregnancy, so if you have any other questions, no matter how crazy, just let me know, I'll be happy to help.

My daughter just got over a touch of a virus and they have medicine that is anti-nausea. I got it at Walgreens. I've never used it but surely that would work. I was the same way, nauseated all the time. Were you sick this way with your first child? It seemed like after three months along, it stopped one day and I was fine from then on. But the ginger ale stuff didn't do a thing for me.

For Morning Sickness, give ginger capsules a try. Nothing was working for me until I started taking ginger. I was only able to find it at a healthfood store & a vitamin shop, but it started working within a day or two and the morning sickness became manageable and sometimes completely gone for a day or two.

My doctor first had me try some OTC stuff called Emetrol. It gagged me since it was so thick, so she told me to drink a cola. I would open a can in the morning and drink little sips out of it all morning. It REALLY helped the morning sickness, and by the time the afternoon sickness set in, the crackers worked. (I had all-day sickness for 4 months.) She wasn't worried about the caffeine since I don't drink coffee, but if you are worried about it, there is caffeine free cola.

As for the pain, I don't know what it could be. Have you talked to your doctor?
