Ladies -
Little guy is getting very mobile, and very untidy. I've got a laundry question for you. Is there a pre-treater/ stain stick that I can safely put on his clothes as soon as they go into the hamper? We (I should say hubby) launders everything once a week. We aren't willing to do it more often than that.
I need something which can tackle spit up, occassional poos, and set in mud, grass and carrots.

My grandmother-in-law gave me a bar of Fels-Naptha right after my husband and I got married five years ago. (I am about to open my second bar.) I keep it in a jar with water. Most times I just need to use the water. For tough stains, I use a little of the bar and rub it into the stain. Some stains take a bit of elbow grease, but it has saved many baby clothes from diaper explosions.
I use Tide Stain Release spray and love it. I don't spray it when I put it in the hamper but right before I put it in the washing machine and it has taken out all kinds of stains. I've had my kid's clothes sit for 5 to 6 days before I treated it and it worked great. My daughter had blueberry juice all over her cute white shorts and I was sure it would never come out but the Tide worked wonders. I've used Shout and another spray but they never worked as well as the Tide.
billy meyes here... i swear by oxyclean! i have the oxyclean spray that i spray onto everything from chocolate to grass stains and then throw it in the washing machine cold cycle to see if it comes out and if not do it again.. or we also have the oxyclean powder i will occasionally put into the wash itself.. but the spray or gel stick is awesome!
I absolutely swear by Zout, it gets out all stains.

The OXYclean gel stick with the blue scrubbing nubs on top. They work so well, I threw out my Resolve stain stick!
I personally always pretreated with plain old dish soap and cold water. It worked amazing on formula stains which are usually impossible to get out. I still use it and I've been told Dawn works best, but it's always worked with any brand we happen to have in house
There are several natural pre-treaters. Look on Etsy and type in laundry stain stick. (they run about $4-7) and last forever!
I use two different stain removers. One is Shout, the other is one I make. It is homemade liquid detergent that I water down just a little and keep in a spray bottle. For both stain removers I spray it on stains and toss the clothes in the hamper until laundry day. Sometimes they stay in the hamper a week, sometimes a few days, but the stains almost always come out. I have had mud, engine grease, spit up, grass stains, blood, and BBQ sauce stains all wash out after having set in the hamper for a week.
