Why So Much Anger Toward Sarah Palin?

Hi C., I'm going to attempt to answer this question, and I already know that I'm going to get slammed by the liberals in the audience.

I am a mature lady. Very knowledgeable about people and politics. Delegate to the RNC. Former NY liberal. Among the first generation of burn-your-bra feminists. So here goes: liberals believe in promoting women, as long as she's the "right kind of woman". They talk about women having choices, but it's rhetoric. They are extremely hostile to choices that they themselves would never opt for: Christianity, protecting babies from abortion, and keeping Downs pregnancies. (Oooh, they hate me right now for even saying this.) Sarah Palin, therefore, represents "the wrong kind of woman".

And here's the thing -- they will never directly say this stuff, so you can't have a debate with them. But I lived that lifestyle when I was young, and I completely understand them. They will say that it's about the war or economy or oil -- they won't even mention babies & religion in their anger, because they're protecting themselves. They are too embarassed to say that they hate religion and think that she should have had an abortion, so you can't even debate it.

I love you for questioning these things -- this is how we grow. I am willing to put up with the coming insults, because debate is more worthy than naivete. God bless you!

Here s what I think, many will disagree. The problem people are having with Sarah Paulin is her faith.
Lets face it...most of the issues that the righteous people uphold, the demon-crats are against.
Sarah Paulin is blessed to be able to support her children, be a role model for her state, and uphold this countries constitution. She has the intelligence, the experience and the integrity to do the job of VP.

People should be influenced by the good choices that surround them, the people they associate with, upholding the truth, and how they treat others.
Most people in our society don't want anything to do with what is right any more, they follow the lies, they don't choose their associates wisely, and they turn the other way when someone who is a stranger needs help.
Sarah Paulin is being critisized because she can do all things through Christ whom she loves. And she has the joy of the Lord as her strength.

The Lord is on her side...
Heaven forbid if we let this country go into the hands of a man with such poor reputation as BHO.

I am so glad you have chosen to stay home with your children. I have done both. I have been a working mom and a sahm. Believe it or not, I thoroughly enjoy both. I actually listen to Laura so I am wondering if you have taken this out of context, although she is about family. She is also a conservative christian. Anyhow I don't believe that there are that many women or people out there angry about Sarah Palin. As a matter of fact I have heard only really great things about her and actually from some liberal people. I am thinking that perhaps it is the circle of people you associate with. Or perhaps you only watch one news channel instead of several. I don't know if you have seen the poles but McCain and Palin are substantially ahead of Obama and Biden. Well we all will keep watch I'm sure as there is still quite some time until the election. Once again there are other places than here that cover this sort of topic. Thanks. God Bless.

Hello. This question spoke to me! Upon hearing about Palin's nomination I was quite angry. Not at her but at the GOP for what I saw as insulting tokenism. I knew very little about Palin and have made it a point to do research. The more I learned, the more my anger got rerouted into a burning drive to elect Obama in 2008.

Like another mother said, Palin's choices about her life represent how she sees the world and the beliefs she could bring into the role of vice president. She is adamantly pro-life, even in the case of incest or rape. She believes in teaching abstinance as sexual education, which research (and her daughter) shows is miseducation. She believes in teaching creationism at school, a glaring breach of separation of church and state. She has said that the war is God's war and we must support it and that Alaskans should pray to God to build an oil pipeline. This is just some of what I found but more than enough.

When I'm at the polls I am voting as much for my children and the world they deserve than for myself. I want my daughter to live in a world where she, not the government, has control over her body and her choices. I want my son to be able to learn the science of creation as well as the religious and regional beliefs. I want to leave them a healthy planet and see alternative energy as a top priority.
Palin has a right to her beliefs. We should be able to pray to God, Goddess, Ganesha or whomever we choose, but religious beliefs should not dictate legislation.

I would love to see a woman in office and McCain seems like a good guy, but our country is so varied right now, why not support a cantidate who recognizes those differences and looks for compromise instead of having such such polarizing beliefs?

It's not like Sarah Palin doesn't have help with her kids, for crying out loud.

I think it just touches a nerve with so many of us because we've tried to "do it all" and know that for most of us something suffers. I've known several amazing women (and men)who are able to be both great parents and very sucessful businesspersons. ...I wasn't one of them. I felt like I couldn't give 100% to both places and felt a little jealous of those who could do it all.

And although I don't agree with most of her politics I think most of the b.s. against Palin is sexist noise.

People just need to realize that there are diffent paths for each of us and it does no good to judge what is right for someone else.

Why do you think it's just Sarah P? Look at how Chelsea Clinton was treated and she was a CHILD! Get over the democrates are doing it thing - in all honesty it's become part of American politics and it's ugly. Within our society we are losing the abiltity to engage in civil discourse and debate. The trend has been increasingly toward personal attack. This does a diservice to the voters. We need to know what out leaders and represetative stand for, their record and their intensions. That aside, a leader's personal life, how they deal with their family, with personal crisis, with their underlings reveals a good deal about their abiltity to prioritize, to connect with people and their values. As a society mysogination is deeply embeded in our language, institutions and culture, that was a factor in the ugly republican attacks on Clinton and it is a factor in the questions raised about Palin. ONe other thing to consider - if a male candidate (imagine Obama) had a pregnant teen daughter, five kids - one with a severe disabilty and was percieved by society as the primary care giver, what reaction who we be seeing? I doubt it would all be an outpouring of compassion. The question also arises as to the example being set in the party of those who oppose birth control, actual sex education ( as opposed to abstinace which studies show isn't working) and are anti abortion. A 17 year old marrying because of a pregnancy is pretty well doomed to divorce and most of us don't want our young people thinking this (along with the movie Jumo) have given some sort of seal approval for teen pregnancy - it isn't usually met with so much support!
It is a double standard in a way but if you are old enough to remember G Ferraro, not all women have met with this sort of reaction. It think it's as much the disconnect between what a vocal part of the Repubs preach and what is being put up for public approval.
