Negative Test, No Period, What's Up?

I know this is posted often but in my VERY distracted state I can't seem to find anything...I am 4 days late (and normally you could set a clock to me). Took the EPT yesterday and it was negative. Not feeling especially pregnant, but I didn't the first time around either. Anyone have negative home tests this many days past the missed period, and later got a positive? How long do I wait to call the doctor's office for a blood test or exam? Thanks Mamas!

So What Happened?

I guess sometimes late just means late (I will find a better method of setting my clock). Thanks mamas for the responses. I am overdue for an annual anyway, so I will speak with my doctor about whether or not it could be a cyst throwing me off.

I tested negative on several tests and I was 6 days late. Then I took an Early Response test and got my positive. In my experience, the cheap tests don't detect the hormone as well as the "Early Response" brand. I wasted a ton of money on the cheap ones.

With both of my kids, I didn't get a positive pregnancy test until I was 4 weeks pregnant. I would give it a few days, if you still don't have your period take another test, if it's still negative, then go see your doctor.

I've gotten a negative when it was too early to test - I waited a few days and then got a positive. If you can, wait a day or two and take the test again with first morning urine.

When I was trying to conceive, I'd take a pregnancy test every day when I was expecting my period until I was proven one way or another. Only when I'd get a positive home test, would I schedule a doctor appointment.

Good Luck!

This happened to me just this past month. I have been regular as long as I've been getting my period, even after 2 kids. At 4 days late, I took a negative PG test. Called the doctor, was told wait a week, take another test, reason being, it could be a fluke and I ovulated late, meaning I'm either not pregnant or my hcg levels weren't high enough yet. At 11 days late, took another test, negative. Doctor told me to wait another week and we'd then do a blood test. At 13 days late I got my period. So who knows? I would call your doctor, though. If it's driving you crazy, just ask for the blood test.

I've had this happen to me twice; give it a few more days. I've gone as late as two weeks before I finally got a positive result. Same here; I was always on time.

Good luck!

I would wait a few more days and take another pregnancy test. I am also usually right on time. With my first, I took the tests that were supposed to tell you 5 days early and it said no, waited a couple more days and still no, waited almost another week and it said yes.
With my second however, the first month I was late so I took a test and it said no. Took several more and they all said no. After being more than 2 weeks late, I went to the doctor where they did another test that also came up negative. I had to be put on some medication (don't remember what) to restart my period and then everything was fine. It did delay getting pregnant for the second time a little bit but it still was ok.

I took a pregnancy test after missing my period for 6 days... NEG. But the following week, after still no period, I took another one to be sure, as we were trying to conceive. The second one was POSITIVE. I would wait for about 3 more days, and make sure you use your first morning urine. If you are, your hormone levels may not have built up enough yet for a home pregnancy test. If after a few days, it's still neg. I would call the doc to have them run a blood test.

Yes. Those tests are not sophisticated enough to always show results that early in a pregnancy. Try again in a couple of weeks.
