Need a Good Dentist!

Husband and I recently went to a dentist we thought was going to be a good fit for us. The problem is I think we were more or less, taken to the cleaners. I'm looking for a good dentist in SL county for adults, as well as one for kids. My girls have an appt tomorrow already, but being our luck thus far, I'd like to have all my bases covered. I hate the dentist and have extreme anxiety, so someone who does sedation dentistry is preferred. Also, my oldest has an eye condition where she has no peripheral vision and very limited vision at all in one eye. Obviously, the more gentle and better understanding pediatric dentist, the better! Thanks ladies!

Our dentist retired so we have found Dr. Rodney Gleave 4500 S. 650 east(ish) to be great! His staff are wonderful, the facility is clean and new and he guarantees his work. He's great with my 2 sons too! Let the girls know that P. L. sent you!

My dentist is fantastic -

Michael J Watson, DDS
1401 East 3900 South
Salt Lake City, Utah
###-###-####

Here's his website: http://watsonsmiles.com/AboutDrWatson/tabid/12129/Default...

He does sedation. I'm a huge wimp, so he numbs me up even when the cavity is so shallow I probably don't need it. The thing I like most about him is that he explains things--why I need stuff done and what'll happen if we don't do it. He is very personable...his "chairside" manner puts me and my kids at ease.

With your teeth, preventative care is way way waaaaaay cheaper than a root canal. So catch stuff early. I also like that he's old enough to be experienced but young enough that he's not going to be retiring for another 20+ years. (I don't like looking for new dentists..lol)

Costs: Most dentists charge the same amounts - just like how most hospitals charge the same amounts. There's two things you can do. First, let the dentist know that you're concerned about money. Most times you pay too much at the dentist, it's because you had extra stuff done that you didn't really need.

Second, see if you can enroll in a cafeteria plan at work. This lets you pay the dentist with Pre-taxed money. They take an amount out of your paycheck each month. You get reimbursed for dental/medical expenses. You have to use up the money by the end of the year or you lose it. Ask your dentist how much wellness visits would cost. Add it up for each member of your family, add wellness doctor visits. Add in the amount that they already take out for medical insurance. That's the amount you want to put into your cafeteria plan. You can do a little more if you *know* you'll have more expenses - like immunizations or whatever. It saves you money because you don't have to pay taxes on the money you use to pay your medical/dental expenses.

I have been very happy with our pediatric dentist, Dr. Nate Stevenson, Stevenson Pediatric Dentistry in Riverton. ###-###-####. Last year my daughter had to have some extractions and other work done for the first time, at the same visit, my son was having a cavity filled for the first time. They were both VERY nervous. The whole staff was very patient. They even took my son out of the room and entertained him while my daughter's teeth were being pulled so he wouldn't be even more nervous. Good luck, I know it can be hard to find someone to trust with the well-being of your children.

I have a great pediatric dentist for my kids. His name is Dr. Roth and he is on 10600 South and 2700 West. He is very gentle with the kids. For myself, I really like Dr. Sergakis. He is on Highland Dr. I haven't been for awhile so I can't remember what south it is.
Good luck!

I know the BEST pediatric dentist in the entire universe. I promise. He lived in my dad's neighbor hood when he was growing up so he's treated all my cousins, myself and now my children. He's very wonderful at preventative dentistry and keeping problems at bay before they happen. His name you ask??? DR. CHRIS R. SIMONSEN. ###-###-####. He's located on 500 S. in bountiful but well worth the little drive! He's been in practice for a long time but has kept current on any new study's and improvements. He accepts most insurances and isn't too expensive. Please do call, he's so wonderful! (ps. my two year old son absolutely LOVES going to the dentist because he's so great. he hands out little prizes every time they go as well.)
