Hi,
I am in need of a PCP who will listen and help me find out what I am battling. I believe it might be Lyme, but tests came back negative. I have battling a 'mysterious illness' (that's what my hubby & I call it now) for over a year. My last PCP ended up saying it was 'stress' but at that time I wasn't even working. My first sign was a high temp (104.5)and then downhill! My B12 doesn't work, I lost a lot weight even though I ate well, and I have numbing in my fingers, etc. The past PCP stopped listening about two months after the high temp. Even my husband realizes there is something medical but I have given up on finding a doctor, and resigned to not being well. Any great doctors you know who listen & can recommend?
Thanks,
L.

Not sure exactly where you live, but Dr. Cozzi in Marlborough, MA is great at listening. He has helped me through some tough diagnosis as well. He is a family practicioner, so my whole family uses him. Note, he is laid back, so if you don't like that be warned.

DO NOT RESIGN YOURSELF to being ill! There are many things you can try, from medical to nutritional! I very much enjoy Dr. Sowmya Viswanathan (Some patients call her "Dr. V." for short) - she is now in Natick on Route 135 near the Framingham border, and affiliated with Newton Wellesley hospital. I started with her when she was in Westboro, and followed her to her new office about 2 years ago. I find her to be very thoughtful, she listens, she doesn't make snap judgments, and she is open to a variety of treatment paths, both medical and non-medical. She has been very supportive of me and the nutritional program I have embarked on, and as I transition to much less medication for a variety of conditions - but I don't believe she will stop listening to you at all. I'm sure she will pursue the necessary tests to find out what is plaguing you - she will probably expect you to be open to new thoughts on her part in case your self-diagnosis is not correct, but I have found her to be open to what the patient feels and thinks. Good luck!

Hi L.,
You don't say where you are located, so I don't know if my advice will be helpful to you, but when I was living in Belmont I had a great doctor in Waltham. Her name is Alice Zakarian. She really listens, really cares about her patients, and goes the extra mile. I don't know if she is accepting new patients right now. It broke my heart to switch doctors when I moved away. The doctor I have now is also good (Colleen Murphy in Milford) but she is no longer accepting new patients. Good luck to you - I really hope you get the care you need!

Hi L.,
try anyone over at the Marino Center in Wellesley -
###-###-####. They specialize in integrative care (combining traditional Western medicine with some complementary approaches). I see Dr. John Bordiuk, but for urgent care I have seen other Dr.'s there, and they are all very nice and very competent. I am sure they would be able to help you there.

It's so hard to not feel good and have Dr's tell you "it's all in your head" or my other favorite, "you're just stressed". I know that particular fustration! The Dr's at the Marino Center were able to help me, and it's been a good experience.

Good Luck to you, and feel free to e-mail me off line if you have other questions about them I might be able to answer for you.

Warmly,
E.
