We have moved from Madison, WI with a fantastic pediatric dentist. I have gone twice to a doctor Shroeder in Crystal Lake and very not impressed. Is there a good pediatric dentist with a great bedside manner who you can recommend for kids who are really scared of all things medical.
Thanks

I have taken my kids to Dr. Rachelle Hardy at River Pointe Dental for years, and I love her! She's an all-around dentist, but is great with my kids. She is located in Fox River Grove, just east of Crystal Lake.

We have a great pediatric dentist in Algonquin. It may be a bit far for you but it is not much farther than Crystal Lake. Her name is Leila Younger and she is right off of Algonquin Road (Route 62). They really take time with the kids and understand their fears. They never push them and find creative ways to make your kids comfortable. Good luck!

Dr. Emmons in the Woodstock Square is very good with children. I think she goes under City Square Dental Care. Also, Dr. Evans also in Woodstock on Route 47 is very good with children. Both are kind and are minimalists when it comes to dental care. Some dentists like to tell you all about all the things you need while others don't disturb the teeth unless they really have to. Both of these dentists are the second type.

Good luck.

My family uses Dr. Pollina in Barrington. We really like him and it is definitely worth the drive from Crystal Lake. They have a website www.grins4kids.com. There was a hygenist there that I was not crazy about, but we haven't seen her in a while, so I think she may be gone.

Their office does do floride every visit, so if your insurance (like mine) only pays for floride once a year you have to ask them not to do it if the kids had it last time.

Dr Pollina himself is nice, professional. He engages the kids in conversation. Tells them about his kids, he is really cool!

We couldn't be happier...........

I am currently looking for the same thing, but I had to post about Dr. Tony. I used to go to him, and I personally feel he is not very good. I felt like he rushed my son through his exams, and he was very money hungry in saying he had cavities when he didn't. I actually had to argue with him on one supposed cavity and kept looking at the x ray saying I didn't see it. When he kept showing me this "speck of pepper" I just didn't see it. I took the x rays to multiple other dentists, and they also agreed he did not have one where Dr. Tony said he did. I know one of his people that work there very well (didn't know her at the time I was going) and she told me that she would never send her kids to him because he is always doing needless procedures and is always looking for ways to try out new things on kids that don't really need them. Finally, my son had a cavity filled by him and the filling came out less than 6 months later. We had it refilled by someone else, and that has lasted 1.5 years. So, I would not recommend him at all. I am still looking for someone new though so don't have any recommendations.

I take both of my boys (ages 8 and 6) to Dr Tony in Crystal Lake. The office, dental area and staff are very kid friendly and would recommend it. The only thing I don't like is their hours; for working parents not much of an option as evening or weekend hours.

Good luck!
