I have not had the baby yet but plan to go back to work about 6-8 weeks after I have her. I am due at the end of April and just moved to the area. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this situation and could guide me into a facility/care proividers direction. Thank you so much for your help in advance and have a wonderful day!

Dear J.,

If you contact Resource Connection for Kids, they can refer you to a variety of child care resources. Visit this link: http://www.whatshappeningmanatee.com/childcare.html

Also, there is a mom's group in Manatee County- called MAMAs, we are going out tonight to Mr. Tequilla's Mexican restaurant (near Cortez and 41) Today is Thurs, Feb 23- we are meeting at 6:30pm

If you want to know all the best stuff going on for families visit www.WhatshappeningManatee.com

Sincerely
D.
Ps. I moved here from Maryland 3 years ago, we were living in Owings Mills outside of Baltimore.

J., I too am looking for a childcare that will accept newborns as we are foster parents and they are wanting to place a baby with us. I do know that a lot of places are full and you need to get your name on a list. Good Luck and welcome to the area.

Hi J.,
I'm on the same boat as you as for knowing very little people in FL. This June will be 2 years for me living in FL. We moved from Boston. If you'd like to chat, just send me a reply. Have a good night.

Hi J.,
I am a 26 yr. old first time Mom and my son is 6 weeks old. My husband and I live in Sarasota, Florida. I was born and raised in town, but I am the first of my friends to have a baby. I will be returning to work (marketing and underwriting for an insurance broker)in April and I am also looking to find a trust worthy care giver for my little boy (Alec). I am starting a mom/baby class on March 1st at Forty Carrots Family Center. I am hoping to make some connections with other moms and maybe get some referrals for child care. I would be interested in visiting some local child care centers, but have not found the time - all my time goes to taking care of my newborn - time well spent! I am also looking into a part time Nanny Service for a couple days a week - they will come to your home. I would be more than happy to research some places with you - maybe we could find a good set-up!

where are you from in MD. My husband and I both grew up in silver spring. Sorry no advice on daycare as my mom moved down from MD as well. But would love to stay in touch so we can meet friends with kids. Our first is almost two and is running a fever right now....oh well.
