Is Anyone Else Having a Bad Day or a Bad Week?

I was supposed to start a new baby in the daycare today. Last Thursday the mom emailed and said the dad was fired. I just asked the dad on facebook how his job hunt is doing. He said he's working full-time and looking for part-time work. So what the heck? I know she started back to work today because she said she did. So they get me to hold a space for them a month and now...where the hecks the baby?

Then, I go to the store and buy 40 dollars worth of food and that's only one days worth. I bought what I can afford and each day I buy out of whatever cash that comes in and try and save money for utilities which are behind and my van which is also behind. This really isn't anything new. It's life. God always gives me what I need even if it's last minute.

Then I get an email from someone that keeps asking me every few weeks how many kids I watch and where I live. So I google her and find out she's a daycare provider. What the heck? I HATE being lied to. If she wants to check out the competition...just be honest. I'll be fine to share info when people just ask.

This morning one of the dads comes in without the money. So I just shrug my shoulders and give him a questioning look and remind him that gas prices are through the roof and I can't just keep going to the bank because people FORGET the money. So he said he'd give me a few dollars for gas. But that doesn't get me paid. I just hung up on the bank wanting the rest of July's van payment which is probably only been 30 bucks or so and they'll get it in the next few days as always.

THEN, as if these were not enough annoyances for one day.. My 21 year old just told me that we are out of bread and acted all annoyed. Yeah, we are out of bread. We have soup and fruit and we have juice and vegetables. We don't have bread.

So the question since I have to have one... Does life ever get simple for just a few days?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm sorry so many of us are having frustrating weeks, months, summers :) It's hard to stay positive when it's one thing after another.

As if this day wasn't frustrating enough.. I get a call tonight from someone that stood me up for childcare a few weeks back. She said she needs to start with someone tomorrow. So she wants to come tonight. I give her the directions and she says she's coming over. NOW, nothing. It's been an hour and a half and the person is not here and not answering her phone.

Tomorrow is another day my dear!! You poor thing; take a bath and have a glass of wine and go to bed and just forget it ;) (LOL @ BREAD!! It's the end of the world!!... at 21, they're capable of ordering pizza!!)

I'm not having abad day, just a busy one, and dreading to find out what kind of mood my husband is going to come home in, because we were both less than pleasant to each other this morning. I'm going to keep my mouth shut, make dinner, have a glass of wine of my own, and cross my fingers that he's over being a butthead!! ;)

Does the 21 year old work? I would make her go walk to the store and purchase a loaf of bread. I'm sure she has $2 laying around.

These days really do suck. Right now I feel the only luck I have is bad luck, but like you God provides for us even if it is the last minute. I keep thinking every day it will get better and I keep reassuring myself of this too! Once you have one good thing happen the others will follow. It DOES get better just give it time and count your blessings.

oh geeez, its a Monday all right! And the weatherman just said it's going to be hotter than ever for the next week - upwards to the 110 mark. We've already broken records for consecutive days in Hell. I think tempers run high when the temperature spikes. I know my husband and I argued all the way to work today - over bad attitudes! It's a Monday all right. Let's hear it for Tuesday, it can't get here quick enough!

i understand...last month we had to borrow money from my MIL to make the morgage payment. i think we are okay now, but it really is to the point where we have to watch every single dollar we spend. it will get better, and i know it doesnt feel like it, but it will. i would tell the parents that if they dont pay then you dont watch the kids. i know that sounds harsh, but it they were taking their kids to a daycare center then it would be the same thing, no payment means no childcare. you have just as much right to payment and days off as everyone else does!!! i'll be praying for you!!

I second Rachel's motion! In fact, let's all go right now and get ourselves a glass of wine (or two). : )

When I have crappy days like yours, I spend two minutes counting as many blessings as I can in those two minutes. It really does improve my mood and makes me look at the bad stuff with a lot more tolerance and humor.

As for the banana who keeps emailing you - did you ask her why? Maybe she wants to go into business with you and do it together! I know that when I did in home daycare, I would have loved to have a partner to keep me sane!

When one of my parents doesn't have their check, I tell them they can bring it at pick-up. You may want to change your contract with everyone and let them know that if your check is "forgotten" there will be a $10. fee for each day that it's late. Or, better yet, tell them that if they "forget" your payment, you will be unable to watch their child that day. Sometimes -- no, make that Usually --- you have to play hardball in that line of work.

Keep your chin up, sweetie! Mama said there'd be days like these!

I am sorry that you're having a rough time!

Boy do I feel you on the daycare thing. I will not hold spots anymore unless people give me a deposit. If they are interested in a spot and come for an interview I have paperwork ready for them and I tell them I need a deposit of 2 week if they want me to hold it. People have no idea have difficult this is for a provider, and how many families you can turn down in the time that they saw they want the spot and then flake about it. The dishonesty from the Mom would really bother me too.

What was the other daycare provider wanting? I didn't understand that one...

Let your 21 year old be annoyed, and don't worry about it. He/She is a grownup and can go to the store. Good grief.

Take a deep breath, Mama... this too shall pass. Sending you a hug~

I have had a case of the Monday's all day today!! UGH!!!

I just paid the bills and figured out again how little is left until payday (and I mean the 15th). With groceries and gas...we are eating every little scrap of everything (I just made one chicken into three meals and was sad the bones were not up to making broth...too many got thrown out the first meal of roasted chicken, second meal chicken and noodles and today for lunch chicken salad).

I don't want to be juggling how we will eat for the next two weeks and put gas in the car...oh, and a medical bill came in the mail today...and I noticed my son's pants are too short.

I have laundry to fold in a basket, to fold in the dryer, and wet to move from the washer.

And it is time to go fix dinner...again!!

Sending you a hug and a virtual glass of wine...if I drank one I would fall asleep before I got everyone bathed and in bed...

I am so sorry, I have done in home babysitting and I know how frustrating it can be when parents don't pay in a timely manner, and trust me I have been right there with you with money being tight!
Last week I had a UTI, and so that was one more expense I was not counting on. My sister is visiting from out of state, so I have been making the 60 minute round trip drive to go see her while she stays ( gas money I had not budgeted for) It really has seemed like a summer of one thing after another.
If your 21 yr old is eating at your house he/she should be contributing!
Here is praying that things get better = )
((hugs))

I have had a heck of week for the last couple of weeks. Today isn't any better. We finally, finally got our U-Verse (internet, phone, cable) installed after 3 tries and then a no show and today all of a sudden the TV and the U-Verse Box go out UGH! My husband ran by from work for a second to check it out he thinks it is the surge protector cord/plug I really hope so. We switched to save money so I was freaking out thinking they weren't going to install it so our bill would be the same but it is in now but no power LOL. I have to laugh to keep from crying about his. I would tell Dad no money no sitter/daycare. Life gets simple a few days at a time sometimes it does get easier and the economy is so, so bad everywhere remember you are not alone. I try to think about people that have NO food and no place to sleep or live or who have lost their homes or spouse or kids or parents or jobs etc. Then I remember how thankfull I am and how good God has been to me in my life. Hang in there I am rooting for you and praying things get better too.

We have had heck of a month. Forth of July weekend we were visiting my in-laws. We had a nice visit, DH helped FIL around the farm ect. Well DH ends up getting stung by a wasp on his lip, face swells up to the size of a beach ball. I take DH to ER wait forever, we get released and go to get the RX filled and there are no pharmacies open in the town they live in after 7pm on a Sunday WTH! So MIL and I drive an hour away to the nearest 24 hour Walgreens. It's 10pm by the time we get back. Next morning DS wakes up with a 104 fever. We load him up and drive an hour to the childrens hospital. Turns out he had strep again. So all in all that weekend cost us $1000.00 in medical bills and gas. Two weeks after that DS fractures his leg playing in his room, I spend all day running between Dr offices, hospital and back to Dr. Theres another $250 in just co-pays. During this time I find out I am pregnant with baby number 2 and have severe morining sickness, ugh!. Then just as we think we are out of the woods and finally getting back on track finacially this weekend DH was changing the spark plugs in his truck and one gets stuck. Had to have the truck towed this morning to the dealership, if it is something they can fix it won't be but a few hundred dollars but if they end up having to send the block to a machine shop to have the hole rethreaded it could be another $1000 plus. DH is driving my car which leaves me with a 2 1/2 yo in a cast, pregnant and without a car. ( just hope nothing happens this week) I keep telling my self that at some point things have to get better and eventually they will.
I hope your week gets better and know you are not alone, we all have one of those days, weeks, months...Good Luck.

I am sick and sad and am home alone with a screaming 2 year old that wants me to jump on the bed with him but I can barely get up off the couch.
