Ink on Couch - Ankeny,IA

My sons have written several times with blue/black pen ink on my mothers leather couch. We have removed every pen from the home so they can't do it again. As soon as I have noticed it we have washed it with a warm soapy rag and it lightens the mark but they are still there. My mother is fairly annoyed to say the least and we can not find anything that will remove the ink without damaging the leather. I am open to any suggestions.

What can I do next?

Cheap hairpray! Spray onto pen mark and wipe clean. No idea why this works but it does :) Good luck!

one word~HAIRSPRAY!!!! And no, it won't damage the leather...I ride a Harley, and have used it to get ink off of everything from boots, to chaps, to our leather coats!!! Hope this helps you!

Have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? It works really well on walls,so it might work on leather. It shouldn't scratch, but I would test it on the couch underside first.

Also, I saw another post suggested saddle soap. Walmart sells saddle soap by the shoes with the shoe polish.

Hi A. -- Apply hair spray, then wipe. Repeat til it's gone. You may want to use saddle soap (I'm sure there are other products easier to find) to remove all traces of the hairspray and restore the leather's finish.

Good luck! L.
