hi everyone, this is the issue, we're tryin to get pregnant with our 2nd baby. we've been trying since decmber 2009 and are now tryin with the help of a fertility doctor. well, on june 1st i had my lh surge on the ovulation test and the dr. confirmed with a blood test that it was correct and wanted us to try june 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. now my periods vary from 28-31 days. today is day 30. i couldn't help myself and took a preg test and it came back negative. my question is, is it too early to be testing??? how long should i wait before taking the test?? also, if anyone else is goin thru this frustrating time , your stories are very appreciated!! thanx, M.

What can I do next?

I remember those waiting days. I hated them. I don't have tips for getting through it outside of telling you that, looking back, I carry no pain from those times. My life became exactly what I didn't know I wanted. It always works that way, I believe, although it's hard to see it at the time.

One thing that bothered me was the constant question from people about whether we were having kids or if we were trying to get pregnant or not. I learned to say that we were still practicing ;)

I wish you peace and happiness, and I trust that both will come in due time!

Regardless ,too soon or not, you really seem anxious about this, and believe it or not, this reason alone can keep you from conceiving . Learn to relax and not stress about it, many people try to hard and it's their only focus and it doesn't happen. Learn to relax ,enjoy the moments and you may be suprised with the result (unless you 've been told there is a physical reason for not being pregnant yet) nad then it still doesn't mean you have to be stressed or anxious about it. It'll happen when you least expect it ! Good Luck ,C.

If you just had your surge on the 1st, I would wait a few more days. I never got a positive test until 10 DPO, with both pregnancies. I think it's too early. Consider that if you got the surge on the first, then you didn't ovulate until the 2nd or 3rd. So you're not far enough out yet.

Hang in there for another week, and then give it a try again.

Good luck!

Do you also go by your ovulation bodily symptoms?
ie: discharge, pelvic pain, etc.?
Because these would indicate you are ovulating or about to.
that is what I did.
And then we'd have sex everyday, for a week, sometimes longer. Not just on certain days.
And I got pregnant that way.

My tests didn't come back positive until I was a week late. Hang in there. I know it's hard not to be anxious about things, but if it meant to happen, it will happen. We tried and tried and tried for a year without anything and just when we had decided to stop trying because we were so stressed, we got pregnant THAT month! I wish you luck M.!!

M.,

Don't do any testing any more until you miss two periods. (Save your $$ doing those pee test won't make your any more pregnant or not pregnant) Also, thank God for the baby you have. I'll bet # 2 will be coming very soon.

Blessings..

Just to make you feel better my one girl friend went seven weeks before she got a postive test back. It really varies and it might be too early. Don't get to over excited or worried. It took us about a year too get pregant withour second daugther. I was sure that there was something wrong with me but as it turns out I just relaxed and actually( don't laugh) held my feet in the air after we made love . I held them up there for about 15 mintunes and on christmas day 2009 we got pregant. My second daugther was born 9/15/10. I will keep you in my prayers it will come to be.

I think you need a few more days to get a positive read. I would wait a few more days or can you go to your fertility doc for a blood test? I remember that being the worst part, the waiting. Hang in there! It will happen :).

December last year to now really isn't that long. It took us about 5 months to conceive the first time. And about twice that the 2nd time, when we finally decided to give it a go. My periods varied widely, sometimes as much as a 40 day cycle... so it was stressful. We checked into Clomid to regulate my cycle a little better, but decided to give it a little more time without it. We got pregnant about 2 months after that. Try not to dwell on ONLY this. I know how hard it is, but in all honesty, 6 months is NOTHING in terms of trying to conceive. My SIL tried for 5 YEARS, did IVF twice, adopted 2 kids, then got pregnant without even trying. Do NOT get totally zeroed in on ONLY this. Try to Relax and think about how much you love your family as it is and your spouse... it will happen. It's happened before already, right? Whether it is THIS month or 2 months from now when you finally conceive.. in the big scheme of things, it really isn't a big difference... so relax.

God Bless.

If you ovulated June 2-3, I think it is still too early for a pregnancy to register on a test. You wouldn't go by your cycle length but by your ovulation date, so I'd wait until AT LEAST 10 DPO to test. 14 DPO would be the estimated day your period should arrive, so you might not get an accurate test reading until June 18 or so.

My experience is exactly like Bethany's. We tried for nine months and then decided to take a break because the stress was too much. That's the month we got pregnant. That said, i know it is just impossible to relax!

Good luck!

Somehow you have got to stop stressing yourself out. With our first, we tried off and on for a year and I stressed every month about it. My husband kept saying he fully believed my stressing was why we weren't getting pregnant.

One month he got injured at work and ended up in a full leg brace. I was beyond frustrated that it was going to be one more month that we didn't get pregnant. Wouldn't you know that month I had NO expectations was the month we got pregnant? (Yep, I got an "I told you so" from the hubby. LOL)

As for early testing, my cycle is often off as well. I am pregnant with our 4th right now and it took a few days after my cycle was due for me to get even a faint line. It took another week after that before the line was darker and easier to see. My doctor did an early sonogram and come to find out, my "off" cycle was a week off so that's why it took longer for me to get a positive test. According to the pregnancy test's 800#, it takes 11 days from CONCEPTION for you to get a positive test result. It is only the 12th of June. You could very well only be 8 or 9 days into conception.

Good luck and do all you can to RELAX. :)
