I LOVE The Toddler Years

I am the proud Mama to 2 beautiful little girls and I love them both with all my heart. My first born is almost 2 and a half and my most recent addition is 10 weeks =). I just realized something tonight while putting them both to bed. I LOVE the toddler years. Ive heard many ppl say before that they can honestly say they hate the toddler years because appartently they are hard but I am actually not the biggest fan of the baby stage. Dont get me wrong, there are days that my toddler makes me want to put my head through a wall but I love Love LOVE the fact that I can truly play and interact and converse with my toddler as opposed to the baby stage where everything seems like a guessing game and trial and error. This isnt to say that I dont love cuddling up with my baby and enjoying the quiet time with her but life is so busy that it is hard to find that time other than at 3am (which I def. take advantage of)
Am I the only one or do other Mamas like the toddler years too?

What can I do next?

Yes! My oldest will he three next week, and my youngest is 18mo. They're fun, when they're not driving each other nuts lol ;) I can carry on full, funny convos w my oldest, and my L. one is picking up words left and right! They have imaginations now, and its great to just observe them...

My 3 year old talks from the moment she wakes up until sundown, she drives me nuts but she is hilarious. On the contrary my 6 month old is, although adorable, sooo cranky and fussy, she has been a challenging baby so hands down I'd rather spend time with my 3 year-old LOL.

so glad you are enjoying the toddler years, they go by fast!

I loved the toddler years too!
The kids are so funny and you can teach them everything... they are little sponges just waiting for us to show them the world. They say the darndest stuff. Pure entertainment at it's finest.

Age 2-3 was not my favorite but 3 and 4 have been awesome! If you have an "easy" baby then sure, infancy is great. But I agree with you, the total dependency and lack of communication skills is not fun. The other day my son told me that he doesn't like being hot and he prefers the shade. Well guess what? When he was a baby he would cry when he was in the full sun and I had no clue what was wrong. So yeah, I agree!

Me too.

It's really exciting to see them emerge as their own little person.

I've done a LOT of praying for patience over the past years and I think I sprouted a few grey hairs, but it's still so much fun. My kids help me not take life too seriously and I love 'em for it.

I loved the toddler years with my older daughter. She was so funny - a smart little cookie with a wicked sense of humor!

Of course, then my younger daughter came along and HER toddler years made me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork (she had been the best baby ever, too... don't know what happened there...).

Fortunately, now that we are in the school years, they are both fantastic kids! So my favorite is the school years, so far! :)

I agree! :)

When I had my baby people would say, wait till he's a toddler.

Wow, I see it now. It is so fun.

He's becoming his own little person.

He not only can tell me when something ails him but he can express every single opinion/thought that crosses his little mind. Including what looks good on me, which route to take to the store and asking me "why in the world are doubling back the way we came". Really?

So cute though. So fun! (Grinning ear to ear right now.)

I'm the same! I was never a fan of babies under age one, and really never enjoyed the newborn days. I'm trying, with my 12 week old, my third and probably last baby!

aw, i love to hear that mamas are loving whatever stage their kids are in!
toddlers are a butt-ton of work, but like puppies, are so adorable that it's generally worth it.
i have to confess, my favorite age is the dreaded teens, the one most people loathe. after that i love infancy. tinies just take my breath away. especially now that i don't have to stay up all night with 'em any more. i ADORED my own toddlers, i thought every single stinkin' they did was amazing. i love other people's toddlers under most circumstances, but if they are totally wild and naughty and no one is giving them gentle boundaries, i admit their charm wanes.

I am like you - I just love love love the toddler years. They are so cute then and the things they say are so adorable. My oldest child is 8 now and he has lost that sweet innocence. He is great too in his own way of course. My 2 year old just brings me joy all the time (ok, not ALL the time). ;)

Oh, I LOVE this age for my son!! People keep telling me 3 is the hardest year, but it has been very fun so far. (Of course, we have hard days.) I'm not a big little baby person. I tried to stay in the moment with my son, and remind myself it would be so fleeting. However, If I could have just gone right to 1 year old, I would have. Not a fan of the eat, sleep, poop, cry thing. It was soooo boring and my days went by incredibly slow. I always loved him more then anything, but I enjoyed him more when we could start interacting. I've never really loved infants, like a lot of women.

Love? I don't know about love. I always wondered what people were talking about when they mentioned the 'terrible twos'. My girls were angels. I kept thinking,"I have the best kids in the whole world!" Then three hit. I think they saved it all up!
I do like the cute things they say, but I don't like, "No!" I don't want to!", the ignoring as if they don't hear and other toddler power plays.
Take this weekend for instance: My mom came up to visit and go to the Herb Festival that we love. We took the girls (they will be 4 on June 3rd). It was a nightmare ( won't go into details as it would be a book). On the way home, we stop at Walmart. Mom,Grandma says she needs the girls to help her with something, so I go to get hamburger buns and laundry detergent. We get home and the girls go right to the drawer with paper, coloring books and stickers, crayons and markers. Mom says she's go them, and I can go chill for a few minutes. The girls come up with about ten handmade mothers day cards. One folded them, the other rolled them into scrolls. They (Grandma/Mom) also gave me four new flowerpots (something to plant those herbs in!). It was awesome. I had just given up on Mothers Day as I am going through a divorce and know he wont think of it/care.
Some days I just want to scream, others I get to laugh!

I had a toddler and two teens at the same time. Boy, did I laugh when people talked about terrible twos, or how hard three year olds are!!! Yea right!

Unlkike many of the moms who responded, I LOVE infancy. There is just something about it... maybe it is because they are helpless and rely on you for everything. They grow an change so quickly, I loved watching every step of development. My 3 were generally easy babies, but I think it was partly because I was and always have been very comfortable with infants. My kiddos are 6, 4 and 11months and I have loved every age for various reasons (although 3 has proven to be the worst for my two oldest as far as tantrums and behavior). I am currently having a really hard time coming to terms with the fact that infancy is coming to a close for us. I know that we are probably not going to have anymore (although I would love to, I also want to have the means to offer my kids a variety of opportunities). I keep on telling myself to enjoy each moment and look forward to what lies ahead... I just can't help feeling a little sad to not have a tiny baby anymore. It's bittersweet to watch your kids grow up ;-)
