hi-
I was wondering how other moms have taken monthly pictures to show how much their little one has grown. I know some people use a news paper for scale, others use letter blocks and spell out "1 MONTH", "2 MONTHS" etc. does anyone have other ideas.

thanks!

What can I do next?

Pose them in the same chair every month and, if possible, put something large next to them to show how they change compared to it (like a huge stuffed animal). Also, if you can dress them in the same type of outfit, it helps show the difference too.

I didn't really know about this idea until my son was almost one, so we do every year on his birthday instead of every month of his first year. He sits in the glider in his room wearing a plain white t-shirt/onesie and plain blue jeans. It's amazing how much he has changed from his 1st to his 3rd birthday.

I seen this once on National Geo. this couple took a picture of their little one every day with the same back ground, in his diaper, in the same pose...once he got to a year old they made a fast motion picture out of it. So neat it appeared as if the baby was growing before your eyes...:) The really do grow fast!!

I haven't done this, but saw it in a magazine: Buy a 12 mo (or even 24 Mo) sized onesie and take a picture of your baby in it every month. It was very cute.

We took a picture of our daughter with a teddy bear her dad bought when he found out we were having a girl, as well as our dachshund. It was fun to watch her be smaller than the dog then gradually get bigger. :-)

I use a Raggedy Andy doll that my mother-in-law made for my son. Every month, we take a picture next to him on the same gray blanket. he's already as big as the doll and growing fast! I then upload to www.picnik.com and add the words "One Month" "Two Months" etc.

I didn't do this myself but you can pick a special object or stuff animal and include it in each picture so there is a scale reference to show growth.

It's totally up to you. You can be as creative (or uncreative) as you want! The trick is using the same outfit/pose/position/object, etc every time (so you have a reference point to compare the growth).

A good friend of mine posed her daughter in a kid-size chair (from Pottery Barn kids, with her name embroidered on it) and a little hand-written sign saying "I'm 1 month old today!", and so on. It was so cute to see her at 1 year how much she had grown. When she was a newborn, she was just a little swaddled bundle of joy in this (what seemed) great big chair. Then by 1 year old, she was a big girl, sitting up, totally filling out the chair.

It really is a cute idea. I wish I would have done that with my kids. :( They grow so fast!

With my son, we took a picture of him every month on the day he was born for 2 years with his teddy bear. After two years, it was amazing to see that he was finally bigger than teddy instead of teddy being the bigger one. With our daughter, we used a raggedy ann doll we received at the baby shower and then did the same thing. It was amazing and now we have timeline.

my DD has a HUGE stuffed dog, i think the thing is as long as I am tall, and we did her baby pictures with that every month, I will most likely use it for the baby on the way as well, I think it worked well, and DD is only 7 now and still not as long as the dog, so we still do it every birthday. :)

Now when I take my belly pics every month to see how big I've gotten, I wear the same shirt and stand in the same place and have my husband stand in the same place every time, i think pregnant belly's grow just as fast as the babies later. :)
