My 6 year old daughter has cavities,(nothing we could have done to prevent it, she had a fever while these teeth were developing and ruined her enamal) we have insurance,however....well it just plain SUCKS!
The problem is my daughter metobolizes the novacaine fast (like me) so she needs to be 'knocked out' for the dental work she needs done. At the dentist we've always gone to it will be about $1,000 I don't have that kind of money. I'd do it for her of course, but I'd like to find a Dentist who specializes in kids. Has anybody been to one or anybody they would suggest?

What can I do next?

My boys ages 6yrs and 3yrs have really liked him. My youngest had two cavities and had to be put out. If I remember correct it was reasonably priced although my insurance is quite good. Good Luck!

My children, boy age 9 and girl age 5 go to a great pediatric dentist named Barney Olsen. He's also a pediatric orthodontist. He was recommended by my sons orthodontist in Boston. His entire staff is great with kids. His office managers name is Chris. She may be able to help you with regard to financial assistance. Dr. Barney's (as the kids call him)info.: Barney T. Olsen, DDS, MS

Another source may be Primary Children's Hospital. When my now 9 year old was 5, we discovered that he had 8 cavities. Similar to your daughter's situation, it was not caused by sweets. It was most likely sugar from his milk. In any event, he had to have dental surgery at Franciscan Children's Hospital in the Boston area. We were private paying, but the majority of patients being treated received financial assistance.

Hope this info. is useful.

Good luck!

Hello D.! My 7 yr old daughter had to have a bunch of dental work done too, yeah it sucks.. :) My daughter has the same problem, she is just a bear to deal with at the dentists office. By chance, I found a really wonderful dentist. His name is Jason Horgesheimer DDS, and I was referred to him by my dentist that takes his own young children to him. He is so, so wonderful. He is very talented in working with young children, his staff is very caring. I would give him a call and go see him at least for a consultation. I wish you luck!!

Are you around SLC? A friend of mine took her daughter to primary children's hospital for dental work related to her premature birth. That may be an option. Good Luck.

I have an excellent pediatric dentist who does everything in his office. My daughter has 4 caps (from broken teeth accident) and has had many cavaties. She just has weak teeth. I have gone to 3 different pediatric dentists and will stay where I am forever!!! He has the "wand" that is computer generated and numbs only the tooth area, so no painful shots and his has the "waterlase" laser so no numbing neccessary. My daughter had her teeth fixed with no anesthetic because the laser just uses water to keep it cool. Here is his website. I have a coupon or you can tell him we referred you. I would go no where else. My daughter is now 6 and actually asks sometimes for the wand because she doesn't like the feel of the rubber dam on her gum. The other dentists told us that we would have to knock her out (2 of them) and then we went to him for opinion sake. There is just no need for being knocked out when it can be PAINLESS and with no drugs!!!!!

THis is the best dentist and office we've ever been too!!!!
