Thanks to all our great Moms out there for all you do! And a special thanks from Mamapedia for your many positive contributions here to this very community.

For those of you who take the time to read the many calls for help and advice from Mom's all over the country that appear here every day, and then so generously respond by sharing your wise thoughts, experienced knowledge, and just plain good advice -please know you make a real positive difference to our community and in other people's lives. I hear every week from member's who are so grateful for this site and the great help and comfort they have found here. Your efforts and willingness to help other mom's, and yes sometimes dad's, find solutions to their parenting issues from the everyday to the profound is the best thing about the Mamapedia. You're the reason why Mamapedia is able to proudly boast that we are built on the "Wisdom of Mom's". Simply put we couldn't do it without you -thanks for all you do here in support of our great community! Happy Mother's Day!

Has Mamapedia made a positive difference in your life in some way?

-M.

I have made some wonderful friends and even met some in person from this site.

When I went through the recent loss of my husband, I was so appreciative of the outpouring of support I received on this site through PM's and postings.

I am glad I stumbled onto this site many years ago when it was Mamasource.

M.,
Thanks for your kind words. It doesn't go unnoticed that, since you have stepped into this position, you have made an effort to be far more communicative than any other admin, both proactively and, like the missive above, positively. I appreciate your direct communication when I've messaged you with a question or concern.

Yes, I think Mamapedia (I've been on since the Mamasource days) has been a nice thing in my life. I've met a few interesting ladies in person in my area-- one of whom makes the most mind-blowing strawberry jam I've ever had. Another always provides as steady and very rational perspective. (We are lucky to have her experience and insight.) I've also made a few online friends who have only brought more fun and humor and camaraderie into my life. Homeschooling has some long days; taking a break and checking in with other awesome women from time to time helps me feel like there is real adult contact in a very child-centered life. We care about each other and recently, through a bad bout of illness, it was a lifeline when I felt too crappy to do much.

I went from having a background in childcare and lots of my own strong opinions and experiences to seeing how so many people did things differently-- and their kids have turned out pretty great. I admire those moms and it gives me hope that, through many challenges, if we keep our eyes focused on what's important, the kids will be all right. That's a blessing to me. Especially as a person who was inadequately parented, this is an inspiration.

Thanks for the question, M.! Kind regards. :)

Hi M.,

Thanks for the support and good wishes.

I've been on this site forever, before it was called Mamapedia. I've made some "friends" on various levels - some I've met face-to-face, some I have an ongoing private message relationship with quite a few others, others I just appreciate hearing from on the public site. I enjoy getting perspective from others who have different life experiences or just a different point of view. I know which members answer very thoughtfully and take time to really see into the big picture and the nuances.

I think things have improved since you took over as moderator, with much faster response to the spam bots as well as the trolls. I appreciate the time you take to investigate people who just word their questions too briefly or unclearly and who are not really trolls, and I REALLY appreciate that you have asked members to let the site managers do the "policing" of problems rather than members taking this on themselves.

I think a lot of the vitriol has died down and there's a progression back to more polite responses (even if there is tremendous disagreement). That's a huge plus for me.

Thanks for all you do.

Thank you M..

We have been through so much in recent years and the wound is healing because of you and your thoughtfulness.

As others have said we have the combined "wisdom of the world"
on this site. I have posted many in private message and have had nothing but good things to say about their return responses.

Happy Mother's Day to all moms/dads.

Thanks for staying on top of things - nice to see the crazy troll spam things removed so efficiently.

Mamapedia makes a positive difference in my life by:

1. making me feel like "I'm not the only one who..."

2. helping me realize what things are beneficial and what stuff I need to let go of

3. allowing me to learn from other moms who are wise and caring

4. letting me help another mom from time to time because of what I've experienced

5. connecting me virtually to other women whose widely varied beliefs and lives enrich me

Thank you for the message, and thank you for your active, effective monitoring. The site is a much more helpful place to come now. I hope that the non-virtual mothers in your life had a great Mother's Day and that you enjoyed it with them.

Thanks M.!

I found this site by chance. I was going through a rough time adapting to being at home with my disability and not only did I read inspiring stories and advice, I found humor and support. I take away something positive almost every day.

I like offering suggestions on what worked for our family. I have made tons of mistakes so if someone can benefit from my mishaps and what I've learned, I will share.

I feel for the moms who are struggling with family dynamics that aren't supportive - whether it be mothers who were abusive or husbands who aren't respectful. Those are the posts that get to me the most. I want to shout you deserve more! to those moms. Those are the moms I want to know we're here for you.

Thanks for removing the unwanted questions that are just geared to stir up negative reactions. Sometimes I type a quick reply and click post before I remember to just report it. But when I see them removed, I'm glad - because otherwise this site is a great source of information. You can take the advice that works for you.
