Why is it that most sites rotate around non-adult children & mothers? Where are the sites, for us grandparents, who have adult children, including older adult children and grandchildren? I have three adult daughters, who are married and each have 2 children (totaling 6 grandchildren). I am very close to my children & grandchildren. I also have 4 adult stepchildren, including 12 step grandchildren. With a grand total of 18 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Where are the information, issues, distance (travel & relationship wise) and other topics, associated with those situations? I see all the sites for young Mom's but what about us older Mom's?

So What Happened?

I am glad to hear from so many other Moms’, that think it’s a good idea, to have a site for Older Mom’s and their issues. Because of the increase from the baby boomers of being in this stage of life, there are a lot of us out there. I think younger Moms would defiantly benefit from our experience. Especially, the influx of doctors and specialist, who are not always correct in some of their assertions. I was blessed with the old fashion teachings of both my Grandmother & Mother, guidness from doctors and well over 30 years of experience. Seeing what honestly does work, cause the “Proof is in the Pudding” (as my grandmother would say). I have seen the medical field change their opinion more then a dozen times just in feeding infants, let alone other issues.

There are a lot of responses from older Moms/grandparents.

Perhaps, if it is something about which you're very passionate, you could start a blog and develop a community around this group.

I think maybe you should start one - the Grandparent sight of Mamapedia or something similar. Its a great idea. Although I do see some posts relating to grandparenting, I wouldn't send my mom to this site.

K., you sound like an awesome lady!! I don't think grandparents are excluded from places like MamaPedia but that unfortunately a lot of grandparents aren't as involved as you are. :( It's sad and something I was literally just talking to my neighbor about.

When I was little, I spent a good bit of time with my grandparents and great grandparents. My parents worked so my grandfather or great uncle would come pick me up from kindergarten and we ALWAYS stopped either at the bowling alley or the ice cream shop. :) They are such wonderful memories from my childhood.

Unfortunately our children don't have that. Either the grandparents are uninvolved or they have not taken care of themselves healthwise (physically and mentally) so they can't be there. It's something I pray for peace on constantly because it makes me SO sad.

Maybe you could start a site geared towards grandparents or even something like a new wave so to speak. Do something that brings awareness to the uninvolved grandparents to wake them up. I sure wish ours would...

Your family is lucky to have you.

So your not alone here K. , Mamapedia has come along way starting from Mamasource. Let your issues and whatever other stuff you want to address be known. Lets see how many Grandma's there are here.

I see tons of questions about lots of issues besides babies and kids. Although there are a lot of those type. I am 51 years old and raising several of my grandkids. I have posted lots of questions and got answers from moms of all ages. I think every person has something to offer no matter what their age, I especially think older Moms know more because they are old enough to see the bigger picture and can cut to the chase.

Dear K., I don't know about a separate site but if you ask your question you may see there are a few grandparents on this site. Grandma Mary
