Good Dentist for a Toddler

I do not live in your area otherwise I would recommend who we take our kids to.
I agree with Livinglife&LovingIt F. Going to a pediactric dentist is absolutely worth it. Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) is what they've used when my children needed work and sometimes they don't even use that. They consider how the kids are doing at the moment and make the call then. You also want a dentist that will treat the tooth and keep it in the mouth whenever possible. You do not want one that is quick to simply pull the tooth. A child keeps some of those teeth until they are in upwards of 12 years old. They need them os their jaws grow correctly. They need them for correct speech. Spending money to treat the baby teeth can help prevent expensive orthodontics and damaged adult teeth.
My son has genetically weak teeth so we've had work done on probably every tooth in his mouth at this point. We went through 2 other dentists before finding who we see now. It's possible my daughter may have the same genetic problem. She's already had 2 cavities filled before she was 2 in molars she had only cut 4-6 months before at most. They came in with defects right from the beginning. Perhaps try looking on Yelp for pediatric dentists and call their office to ask them what their policies are.

I highly recommend Dr Anil Reddy. Dr. Reddy is a pediatric dentist. He has 2 offices and works 1 day a week at Childrens Hospital in Dallas. He works with children who have disabilities and children who do not.

My youngest daughter does not get along well with men the first time she meets them.. She has been this way from birth. I was told that she had a molar that needed a root canal and crown. When I went for a second opinion, I meet a few quacks along the way who wanted to put her in a straight jacket for the procedure. I then found Dr. Reddy. The first thing I liked about him is that he is very much against using a Straight Jacket / Papuse. Secondly, he was willing to meet my daughter first before doing any work. The day we went to meet him, not only did things go well, but he determined that she did not need a root canal and crown. All she needed was a feeling and he was able to do it in the first visit.

Since then I have referred many people to him and they have all been extreemly happy. My best friend takes her son to see him who has autism. Her son has always had a very good experience too.

I agree with the other mamas, some pain relief isn't a bad thing. Would you like to be expected to sit through dental work without it? I know I wouldn't! My 3 yr old had to have her whole mouth fixed and we used conscience sedation. There was no way I was going to scare her to death and to this day she loves her dentist and he does go the extra mile. He tried with just nitrous and she freaked. Anyhow we love him and he's not in that area but I promise its worth the drive! His name is randy hamilton at ikids dental in mansfield tx. I trusted him with my angel and treated her like she was his own!

I don't have a dentist for you, but I would say it will be so much easier on your child if you give them nitrous oxide gas. They will be more relaxed and the experience at the dentists will be much more positive then if you don't sedate at all. Also, take your child to a pediatric dentist--not just a dentist that works well with kids.They are like night and day. Its worth the wait if you have to wait to see a pedi dentist. GL

I take my girls to Dental Care for Kids in Flower Mound. The doctors there are wonderful.

We have also seen Dr. Reddy in Coppell and I agree with Karla. He is a good dentist as well. Flower Mound is just closer to home, but if I ever need to see anyone else we will go to Coppell for sure.

You're probably not going to find one. It's horrid for a young child to have to endure such a experience. Pediatric dentists anesthetize kids so they can get the work done in a few minutes and do it all at once. It is extremely more humane to let them sleep the entire time.
