I am looking for golf lessions for my soon to be 9 yr old son. His father doesn't play, but he is very interested in trying it out. I try to keep him in sports and I think this could be a good one for him. We live in Lake Highlands and need some place close by. Thanks, H. N

I was going to recommend First Tee of Dallas, but looks like someone else did already. It's a great choice.

Top Golf Junior Academy is having youth golf camps this summer. They are near Park and Abrams. Their website is www.topgolfusa.com. Lakewood Country club has sports camp that includes golf, tennis and swimming. Guests are welcome with members. You might also try the rec centers nearby.

I HIGHLY recommend The First Tee of Dallas - my son has been going to TFTD for just under a year now and we LOVE the program. The best thing about it is that the program really stresses their 9 core values like respect, honesty, sportsmanship, etc. The coaches are amazing and the fee's are so very reasonable! At the end of each 6 week session there is a tournament or competition and my son loves it!

Is Lewisville/Farmers Branch too far to drive? If not, call Hank Haney driving range on 35E, just south of the Vista Ridge mall. It's NOT the one over there at 35E & 635...the location I'm talking about is north of there. Both my husband and I have taken lessons there with a guy named Kevin. They also have junior camps. If Kevin is still there, he is awesome! I have never met a more patient man in my life. He is wonderful.

There's a golf place on Park Lane and Abrams, perhaps they have lessons. Sorry I can't remember the name of the place.

I have a 9 year old student that takes golf lessons through a local golf range in Irving. I bet you could find lessons in this way or even at a local golf course. Maybe even a high school golf student wanting to make some extra money for the summer until you find out if your son really will stick with golf. Golf is so expensive and this might be the best way to go until you see if it is long range. :-) Good luck. It sounds like fun. My student loves the sport he even attended a golf clinic for kids, recently, through the Byron Nelson tournament.

WE went to Hank Haney last summer - they have a 4 day camp (9-12:00) for $160. The instructors were great. This is the one located at 75/Blackburn.

Our golf club does offer summer camps but it is members only. A good bet wouild be to try the public courses and if they don't have one, they can probably lead you in the right direction.
