I need to know what the going rate for a High School Babysitter is. I have been out of the loop for a long time and I now have a 2 year old and we NEED a Babysitter!! :) So far, we haven't left him much. We have just "traded" babysitting with friends. But, we are feeling the need to hire someone to come to our house occasionally. Please help!! What is the "fair" amount??

I pay $10 for one child. (I've always tried to pay a little more than the norm, because that's how I get sitters to come back to me. I've had sitters call me before they accept another job just to see if I might want them.)

My 14 year old gets anywhere between $5 and $10 an hur, if it is a late night.
Usually she brings home between $7 an $8/hour. I know another poster said in CA they are paying $10 an hour.
I tell parets who ask me that the girls, I have 2 babysitters, will take whatever the parent deems a fair amount.
