Good morning mama's and TGIF! Has anyone had a girls spa themed party as a birthday party? I am having one for my 8 year old and 6 of her friends and have some things to do and food planned. My concern is set up of some type of beauty stations and if you think Halloween type decorations is too much or should I go with traditional spa colors like pastels. I would love any and all ideas as I have a week to prepare. I have the little tubs to soak their feet in which I bought at the dollar store and went and got foam stickers and letters for them to decorate. I bought to Spa Day kits from Smart Lab which has little bowls and projects like facial scrubs, etc.... I would love to hear some easy ideas also on facial scrubs or other activities that are easy as we will only have 3 hours. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My mom did this for me when I was young! Such a blast. I would skip the Halloween decorations and go with the soothing pastels. Remember to have soft music, dim lighting and lots of fluffy towels!

- Manicures
- Pedicures
- Sparkling cider in fancy plastic champagne glasses
- Use the store-bought facial scrubs and don't get anything SCENTED!

Just a thought.... if you know someone who sells Mary Kay or Avon, call them and ask them to do the party for you! Then order each child a colored lip gloss or something very small so the rep makes a little $$ off of the deal. You could allow her to have her pamphlets and cards out for the moms when they arrive for pick-up!

My mom's friend was doing MK at that time and "practiced" on our little faces. It was a blast!

I helped by boss' daughter have a spa party sleepover last year. She had gotten big foam letters in glittery pink and green somewhere. I mounted them on white poster board and framed them in a large standing frame that I just happened to have ..."Welcome to ****'s Spa". I had balloons in the same colors, and a few paper battery operated Chinese lanterns of the same colors. (Martha Stewart @ Walmart) I brought large glass canisters of cotton balls, and cotton squares over, a few small white plastic tray/baskets with an assortment of polishes etc, (invest in a can of rapid dry spray) and some clear bowls large enough to soak hands. We made our own sugar scrub with sugar, baby oil and a little fragrance that we used on hands and feet, and a banana oatmeal facial. I had three different "stations" and a couple of volunteers to help. We had the pedicure station, the manicure station and the facial station. Get a couple of headbands or terry cloth head wraps to put on the girls and pull their hair back from their faces while doing the facials. (dollar tree has them) and I bought lots of white washcloths ....I think that I paid only $3 or $4 for bundles of 12, I pre washed them and had them folded in 1/4 squares and stacked neatly at each station.. Lots of them! We used them for drying the girls hands, feet and washing faces....have a basket handy to toss used ones so every one gets their own fresh cloth at each station. Have fun!

My sister did this for her little girl. She had the babysitter and some of her teenage friends helping out and the girls LOVED it!

Isn't 8 and younger kinda young for a spa day? What things will she have to look forward too when she is older if all these kinds of things have already been done?

I would think that keeping things more natural may be more beneficial in a spa setting for little girls. So finding out how to make your own sugar scrubs, avocado masks, witch hazel toners, and epsom salt soaks with some kind of peppermint added would be very nice. I also would add some kind of home made hand lotion from shea butter and coconut oil.

I would just keep all of the towels either white or cream colored instead of going with pastels unless your girls favorite color is some kind of pastel. aquas, light blues, teals, creams, ivorys, pinks, buttery yellows, lavendars, mint greens are all soothing colors and excellent for a spa experience but try to stick to one or two colors but not more than that.

Have loads of fun and enjoy. The more help you can get for the girls to be pampered rather than them pampering each other would be wonderful. Also remember to set the atmosphere with soothing music, fluffy robes, towel wraps for their hair even though you aren't doing anything with their hair.

Don't mix the Halloween theme into your spa theme but have loads of fun.

I would use natural foods to use on the face, in case any of the girls have sensitive skin. Avocados are great, and the girls can make their best witch cackles with their faces all green, which would tie into Halloween theme. Bananas and oatmeal are also great, and I am sure there are lots more if you google it! Also, painting nails and doing things like lip gloss etc. can be fun too.

Skip the Halloween stuff as that's trying to tie 2 themes into 1 party.

I agree with Krista about the manis/pedis/sparkling cider, but I would definitely not use store bought products on other people's kids as you never know what kind of reaction someone might have. I would make my own facials with oatmeal & the like (you can find a ton of this type of recipes online at ehow.com: http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_homemade-face-masks-...
