My garbage disposal just stopped working. I'm clueless. Who do I call? All I can hear is the motor running. MY DH is not so handy!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks, everyone! I got in it and dug everything out and reset it. After several attempts, it finally started working....but then wouldn't shut off! LOL I unplugged it and played some more and it is back in business.

Hello A.!
I hated it when our gd quit working. We had ours for 14 years though. We ended up having to get a new one. But before you resort to that try using the reset button. If all disposals are made generally alike it should be near the bottom of the device. There is also a wrench they send with it. Find the hole it sticks into and it should help getting it started up again. We had to do this so many times, haha. We finally ended up going to Home Depot and buying one. My brother was with us when this was going on and felt the need to bring old disposal with us. The sales associate busted out laughing. I told him what model/brand we needed and we got it. Once again my lil bro decided he should be the handy man and install it. He messed it up and I ended up fixing it. So far no problems. :) Hope some of this helps!

My husband, Ken Brock, owns Carroll Appliance. They service Insinkerator Garbage Disposals. Just call Debbie at ###-###-#### to set up service. Tell her I sent you. My name is K..

Thanks.....They'll take good care of you.

try the reset button under the sink. there's also a spot under the sink on the disposal for a wrench...you can turn the disposal manually that way...if something's stuck that might make it work again. we just had this issue..thought we were going to have to call a repairman but this worked. same thing...our motor was running but it wasn't working. good luck!

unplug it! then dig in there. this is not the most prestiges job. it could be something like hair or celery ribs. if the motor is running still, it should just need some cleanin'. there is a reset button on it, somewhere. (i'm pretty sure they all have those. (f.y.i) good luck!
