If 8 years and not walking - take him to a doctor immediately. If 8 months - same advice.
"flat feet" are typically collapsed arches and need special shoes/orthotics, etc, but if a child cannot hold weight, walk or sit there is something else that is the culprit - not feet.
Good luck!!

Has he always had flat feet? Generally people with flat feet are asymptomatic and when there are symptoms it is usually foot pain and swelling not falling down and being unable to walk without support. Perhaps he has a fracture or a problem with his achilles tendon? You need to get your child to a doctor to try to get things figured out. Good luck.

It sounds a little more than just flat foot - there is something called paralytic flat foot, which is seen in undiagnosed cerebral palsy, and sometimes in spina bifida. also it can be from an undiagnosed club foot.
Also some forms of juvenile arthritis can cause a kind of flat foot.
curable? I don't know, but it may be good to see a doctor!

I was born with a bone deformity that gave me hyper flexibility of the ankle and foot, but severe bowed out flat feet. By 10 y/o I couldn't run, jump, stand on tip toe, walk fast, walk for a long time or stand too long.

Finally got major surgery at 20 and 21 for it. IT WAS TOO LATE and the reconstruction made it so much worse that I know have a handicap decal.

My daughter was born with the same deformity and thank goodness I could see the signs. Her pediatric ortho completely wrote off my concerns so I went to the specialist who did my feet. He immediately saw what I did and we waited a year to do her surgery. Just a few months after her 4th birthday she had metal implants in both ankles and is doing great!

Take him to a specialist to talk about possible corrective surgery and do it BEFORE his growth spurt. After the growth spurt means his muscles, ligaments and tendons will conform to the disability and cause more pain.

Pediatric Orthopedic doctor is who you need to see. My daughter was checked for scoliosis and also one leg shorter than the other. My son also has some issues with his feet and hips. Both kids have to wear arch supports and other orthotic inserts

Please take him to the DR. Flat feet does not affect siting. There is something more going on.
