In an effort to hold myself accountable, I am announcing to you all and my co-workers that as of today I am going to take better care of myself and shed some weight. If any of you would like to join me, I could post once a week and tell you my progress, my ups and downs, victories and defeats and you can post yours. My hope is we can encourage each other, share tips, and new information. If this sounds like something you want to do with me, let me know.

I'm not interested in supplements or purchasing anything at all. My intention is to eat less and move more. I am going to start doing Zumba and Yoga again. I don't know if I should count calories or points? WHat do you think? I'm not that familiar with the points thing. But I plan to eat healthy, whole foods. No prepackaged food. And I am going to severley limit my alcohol intake. Not 100%, I mean, come on, it's the World Series! :)

Today I have eaten an apple, had a cup of coffe, a bottle of water, and 1 cup of mongolian stirfry full of steak, shrimp, mushrooms, and zuchini. I will have the other cup at 3:30 for an afternoon snack. I haven't figured dinner out yet.

So What Happened?

Fitness Club works much better! I was trying to think of a way to include people that dont need to lose weight but want to get healthy. Thanks for that.

Well, you're off to a really good start today!

O. reason you might not want me in your club is that, after reviewing your intake thus far up to dinner, I might recommend some grapes, a Kit Kat and a Coke!

Looking forward to your progress...inspire me! LOL

I'm in...

I count points! I have 11 points out of 31 left today. My creamer for my coffee is my everyday must! Not taking my vanilla away from myself.

Kellog's Cinnamon Almod for breakfast.
Tuna wrap and cup of Sunchips and a string cheese for lunch.

Dinner not sure yet but it will be about 11 points!

I use sparkpeople.com. Its a free website and when you plug in your information, it gives you your recommended daily calories etc. It gives you a way to track your calories as well as your fitness. There is a group on there call mommy to wowwy and they have challenges every month. You are placed on a team and it keeps you going because you don't want to let your team down!

I would love to join with you! I have been fairly active the last seven years. Wish I had always been. I am 52 years old and started road bike riding about 7 years ago (long distance - 20 miles per day, sometimes a ride of 50 -60 miles on saturdays). I have not ridden but 30 miles total this entire year, so you can see how I have fallen back on my physical activity. I occassionally do weight lifting (which I used to do 4 days a week) and really would like to get back into toning my upper body. I started running when I turned 50 (having NEVER run in my life and always said I NEVER would - never say never, lol). I now run 1 to 3 miles a day, at least 3 days a week. So I am doing something! So, as you can see, I am physically active, but my problem is I love to eat! I am 5"4" and was down to 135, but now am back up to 155. I would really like to keep my weight between 140 and 145. I don't have a lot to lose, but sometimes just losing 10 pounds can be a challenge, especially since I am now older. So yes, I would love to join you. In fact, I had just committed myself again this week to get back on track so I am back on a 1200 calorie daily intake, which is easier for me than points. I use SparkPeople.com to log my food and exercise. My problem is snacking when bored because my job is pretty much sitting at a desk all day waiting on phone to ring so I have lots of slack time. I have some weights by my desk that I am trying to remember to use when I am idle at least 3 or 4 times a day. So HELP me! I need encouragement too! You had a great start to your day! I had an apple for breakfast and my coffee and a large glass of ice water. I try to keep my breakfast and lunch to 400 calories so I can have a better supper and an afternoon snack if needed. My goal is to lose 10 pounds. What is yours? Thanks for suggesting this and it will be great getting to know you and see both our results!!

T.,
It sounds like you have had a good first day. I would love to follow your progress. I should join right in with you. I don't know why I'm just not willing. There are things I'm not willing to give up and I KNOW I should.

Accountability is very important to your success! I would love to help all of you on in your journey. I just finished losing 30 lbs this past year and back to being in great shape. I typically use a private facebook group for everyone to report into on a daily basis. I use myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and it is free as well. There are several different ones out there so it is just a matter of finding the one you like. People that keep a food journal are more successful in their weight loss journey. The only thing I would add concerning your food is that you really need to add some protein to your breakfast. How about a tablespoon of peanut butter to go with that apple.

So it has been 2 days since your post...how are you doing?
