Did I Buy a Bad Washer/dryer Set?

My husband and I just purchased a new washer and dryer which will be delivered to our new home in 2 weeks. I thought we were purchasing a good brand and model, however now that I'm home I'm reading mixed reviews about this pair. I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer (WTW6500WW) & Dryer (WGD6200WW). Do any of you own these, and if so, how do they work? I'm hoping you can ease my mind and tell me they are good products. And, if not, then can you suggest which make/model would be good to buy? I'd prefer exchanging these before they are ordered so I don't have to deal with the headache.

Please help!!! Help

I can't really offer advice, but I do empathize, b/c I just went through this process!! I had decided on the cabrio at the store, but then got home and read so many horrible reviews. I decided to ask everyone I know what washer/dryer they have and if they like it. I settled on the Kenmore Elite Oasis top loader and dryer. (I previously had the Duet Sport and just hated the mold issue in addition to my clothes being twisted.) I can't give you any personal insight on the Cabrio, but I just didn't feel good spending that much money when I didn't know anyone IRL who owned them, after reading so many bad reviews.

Hi R.,

Not sure which models those are you ordered. But I have the Whirlpool Duet Sport front loading dryer.....I WAS going to get the front loading washer to match, but after reading reviews of mold build up in the ring around the door I opted to get the top loading Cabrio washer. I LOVE MY WASHER....it is one step down from the top model. If I had money to throw around I would replace my front loading dryer with the Cabrio to match. I do like the pedastal (SP) that the duet sport sits on since I'm tall...that's great.
Frankly, I have a family of 4, plus 2 dogs, who's beds I wash regularly, and I have no issues. I do think the front loading dryers take longer to completely dry the clothes. SOmetimes I have to run it twice....so, to me that's not so energy efficent. But it does its job. I give Cabrio an A+! Duet Sport C-

Hope that helps.

We have the same combo... Actually, these are definitely top of the line (I'm not sure of our model #) but after I purchased the set I found out they are TOP rated amongst family must haves. If you ever wonder, just look up consumer ratings and you'll see they are very highly rated. We bought our in November last year and it was the BEST decision for our household!!!

I don't know anything about the washer/dryer set you chose, but I am a die hard Kenmore fan. My dad worked at Sears when I was growing up and we always had Kenmore. They lasted an average of 20-30 years! Plus they're inexpensive (comparatively) and Sears stands behind all their stuff. When my hubby and I bought our first house, we got all Kenmore appliances (fridge, washer, dryer, etc.). That was over 10 years ago and they have not given us a moment's trouble.

That's my two cents' worth. Good luck!

Hi R.,

I may be a little late on this reply, but I also see you did not have that many. Your request hit home with me becasue I bought that set a year or so ago for a second home and although I don't use it much, when I have, I have not liked it at all. What I don't like is that ....

1. The lids lock and you have to power off to get in to it mid cycle. (Who doesn't want to add something to a load sooner or later after you have started it!)

2. Since it does not have the agitator in the center, it twist the sheets and towels (I don't do clothes thier)so tight that the wrinkles don't even come out after being dried. A friend of mine told me about these dryer balls and even got me a set, but I have not had the opporunity to use them yet.

I thought my complaint was just my problem so I was glad to see this post. I will stick with my old fashion 20 year old Whirlpools I have at my main residence. I am currently having an issue with my home washer and am doing every thing I can to get it fix cause I don't even want to deal with the new ones on the market. They juset don't make them like they use to. The brand is good but stick with the old fashion, less fanncy models.

If your having doubts cancel the order before it's delivered. It's just my opinion but I hope it helps.
