I had a baby boy 2 weeks ago and he has horrible diaper rash. I have been using Zinc Oxide and have tried different diapers. Nothing seems to help. It doesnt seem to be getting worse but it doesnt seem to be getting any better either. Any ideas would be so helpful.

What can I do next?

This happened with all three of mine. I was drinking too much milk and they had a slight lactose interolerance that all grew out of. the doc told me to try cutting back on dairy and it worked. My husband remembered from breastfeeding class..."you don't have to drink milk to make milk"

Just keep taking those prenates and slowly add milk back. hope it works.

It might be yeast. Check with your doctor.

I would ask your dr about allergy to diaper cream. I had a friend with the same situation she tried every kind of diaper cream and it all made things worse. As it turned out her daughter had a zinc oxide allergy and she can't use and diaper creams. I also agree with letting the baby air dry. After my sons baths i hold him for a while before putting his diaper on. It can be dangerous for messes but my son has Never had a bad diaper rash. For his fist month or so it seemed like i was changing a diaper an hour, keep him dry adn he will be happy.

If it's not yeast (have you called your pediatrician's office?), Aquafor works pretty good!

You could also try to not put a diaper on him for a bit so his skin dries a little. We did that once with my now 21 month old when he had this horrible rash due to diarrhea... yeah, it made for a horrible messy night (changing sheets every time he went throughout the night) but his rash got much better.

Instead of wipes, clean him with water. I do that with my little one. I have a small container with warm water and I wet a kleenex... instead of rubbing/wiping, I dab and let the water run down. I do that until I get 'it' all. Then you gotta make sure you dry him very well before putting the diaper cream on.

Like the other ladies said though, make sure you call your pediatrician and see what they recommend. Maybe they want you to go in just to make sure it's not a yeast infection.

I agree, if the Zinc Oxide doesn't work, it could be yeast. Once that clears up, you can prevent futher diaper rashes by using vaseline with each diaper change. Once we did that with my DD she NEVER had a diaper rash after that!

I would take him to the dr. My baby boy had such a bad rash that he was bleeding, and nothing i did helped, but the doctor gave me a perscription for a special diper cream that was AMAZING!
Hope this helps,
M.

It sounds like it could be yeast. Try and anti fungal cream. When my oldest gets a rash it almost always turns into a yeast rash. We just use the generic anti fungal cream from Target. It works within a day to clear the rash up.

I highly highly recomment Angel Baby Bottom Balm. I have had all sorts of diaper rash problems with my daughter and this stuff works GREAT!
