Toy Story 3 comes out on DVD/Blu-ray tomorrow I believe. :)

** Edit since you're getting the DVD already **

What about wall -decals to decorate his room? http://www.fathead.com/search-results/?term=toy%20story

Maybe some themed bedsheets? Pajamas, etc.

Getting away from the Toy Story idea. Building blocks, finger paints, crayons, craft supplies, bubble bath.

I like to look on http://www.toyportfolio.com/ This is the site for the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio. You've probably seen their award stickers on various toys. They are one of the big toy award companies. I browse through toys that have won awards for being entertaining, interesting and educational to get ideas for things I might like to get my kids.

Last christmas my son was three and a half and we got him the
Handy Manny tool bench, it comes with tools and instructions on how to build things like a boat or robot, but what I loved about it is that Manny reads the steps to him so I dont have to sit there everytime and help him.
We also bought him the Buzz and Woody but we also included the squeeze Rex that roars which he loved.

We have a workshop that we bought from toys r us a few years ago that our youngest loves. Our 3.5 yr old loves Toy Story too :) I thought about getting him buzz light year but I am not even sure how much he will play with it. I'm sure it will just sit around collecting dust like most of the junk they have. He is big into legos because his older brother is so we might get him a small toy story set (of course we will have to help him build it) but at least I know that will get used.
What about a box of dress up stuff like construction hat, tool belt, cowboy hat, knight's helmet, etc Both of my boys love to dress up and run around the house playing more then they play with their other toys besides their work shop and kitchen (yes my boys have a kitchen) ,a nerf basketball hoop for the door, games

Last christmas (my oldest son was about 3 1/2) and we got him a Radio Flyer My First Scooter with a helmet, a new soccer ball, a really cool bulid a bear, a battery for a power wheels truck we already had (he hadnt used it yet since the battery was coming from santa), and a wooden play kitchen with metal pots and pans. Both items he has received and loved; a geo traxs train set, 12" bike, plasma car, and movies. We got him and our youngest son (1) a really awesome wooden car ramp, and toy story stuffed items from the disney store.

Our son got a Leapster last year at around the same age and LOVES it! It is educational, keeps him occupied/quiet on car trips, and it really is lots of fun. It has been the best gift that Santa brought! :)

We got an air hockey table for our 3 kids to share as the big gift. Our youngest is a 3.5 year old boy. We are also getting the boys model airplane kits, pillow pets, clothes, pj's, LEGO's, Toy Story stuff (they just got Toy Story 3 bedding also), DS games, Wii games, magic kits, etc. Just some ideas :o).

LEGOS.
They will last for several years. Well, he may never outgrow them, really.

My 3 1/2yo already has a Fisher Price Trio set and we'll probably get the Lego Duplo Toy Story set for Christmas. My older son used the Leapster so much that it broke, so I already bought the Toy Story Leapster 2 from Toys R Us for my 3yo. Imaginext sets are also a lot of fun. Lots of people are against boys having dolls, but my son LOVES his stuffed animal from BuildaBear and he also found my old Cabbage Patch Kids in grandma's basement. It's so much fun watching him nurture his "friends." (He did just finish potty training though, so most of the time, the CPKs are naked too. lol)

age-appropriate books, craft supplies, Playdoh, etc. A cd of basic children's songs. Any preschool age game. Anything to get the mind learning!

Parents of boys tend to address the physical needs & not the educational!

Buy him clothes and educational toys along with his Buzz and Woody. He will be happy with new things to entertain him. Hold on to your socks for the upcoming years!
