Cancer Stress

I don't know why I have suddenly begun to stress on this but I have. I have a tiny hard bump near my collarbone. It is about the size of a ballpoint pen tip and I can pinch the whole thing if I dig into my skin there - it feels like a hard tiny ball. I have had this thing for about 15 years because I remember trying to "dig it out" of my skin when I was a teenager. I had it checked by a doctor years ago and he said it was nothing, but I don't remember what he said it was. He did not biopsy it. It has not changed at all over the years, it still feels exactly the same. If I move the skin up onto my collarbone I can see the little lump and it looks like a tiny pebble under my skin. I think it looks a little darker (the lump itself, not the surrounding skin) in color but it is hard to tell because like I said it is under the skin. It does not hurt and is not visible from the outer skin. I read about lipomas thinking maybe it was that but it is so tiny and other people's seem to be larger. I am starting to stress that maybe it is cancer because it was never cut out to be tested... how likely is it that it would go unchanged all these years and be cancerous? I made an appointment with my dr but it is 3 weeks out and I seem to be totally stressing myself out over this...guess my life got a little too boring and now I need something new to worry about - geez. I keep thinking, oh maybe it is cancer and now after all these years it has spread and I am about to drop dead. aaaaaaa someone please help me not to stress

What can I do next?

If it was nothing then and it hasn't changed, I'd say most likely it's fine. When you go in though I would ask for a CBC to be sure you don't have an elevated white blood count or anything else weird going on in your blood work, and a possible biopsy if they can't tell you with certainty this time what the lump is. Then you can be at complete peace about it and find something else to worry about. :)

My aunt had one on her hand. She had it surgically removed, and another one came back. Was not cancerous so don't worry, but have it checked out :)

Yep...Totally stressing out about it...Since it has been a long time since you've been examined. Go back to the doctor to be checked so you can get some reassurance. I have probably a lipoma two of them by my elbow...Freaked me out but I had them checked and all is fine. I am sure you will be too...

If you had it checked once and they said it wasn't anything to worry about, and it hasn't changed in 15 years it's probably stil nothing to worry about. Plus if it's already been there for atleast 15 years 3 more weeks really isn't that long ;-)

get it checked. My cousin had a bump like that under her arm. doctor said its nothing. its nothing its nothing. for about 5 years on the 5th year she had a different doctor who decided to check it out. it was cancer and is now in her bones. not trying to scare you but get it checked if its still nothing it's nothing but your peace of mind is worth getting it checked.
