Bumps in Armpit

Okay, I know this is a really weird question. Ever since I started shaving under my arms, I have had little bumps on my skin. It almost looks like chicken skin (gross..I know). (Dermatology issue - nothing under the skin) I have shaved everyday - I have gone several days without shaving - I have used regular deodorant - I have used natural deodorant - nothing seems to change it. Although I do distinctly remember not having these bumps before I started shaving. I have now been using deodorant without aluminum for probably 2-3 years straight and I usually shave every couple of days.

What are these bumps? Can I get rid of them? Anyone had a similar experience?

What can I do next?

I have bumps on my arms, legs, and sometimes my armpits. I think they are ingrown hairs. You can remove the ingrown hair by squeezing it like you do a zit. Free the hair and exfoliate often. For info. on ingrown hairs go to: howtogetridofstuff.com. Good Luck!

There's a product called TendSkin that you apply after shaving that might help you. Not sure where to buy it, but you can get it online - http://www.tendskin.com/index.htm

Also, I waxed for 10+ years and then did laser hair removal. I am so happy I did the laser. It was expensive up front but I'm really thrilled with the results. Tried waxing myself...once. Not something I would try again! : ))

I would sure like to know how to get rid of mine!
Actually i have noticed that if I use a really sharp razor I do not get them as bad. i have also noticed that my husband's razor works way better than mine. try a men's razor.
the one thing that i do, but sparatically, is wax. i get no bumps when i wax. i just haven't done it since I got pregnant and had a baby but i should do it again.

Maybe try waxing your underarms. I used to get bumps and irritated in general everytime I'd shave. I LOVE the results from waxing, smooth, REALLY hairless and it does last much longer. You do have to have a bit of length of the hair to wax again, which is a bit of a bummer, but the hairs grow in much finer. Go to a professional for the first time, but it is a bit too spendy for me, so I have my own kit (from Sally's) now that my husband helps me with. I can't get the right angle and tightness of skin to wax them by myself, but I do know of other women that do, they use the kits available from like Target.

I get them too & they come and go. I have been told that using men's after shave helps reduce and eventually eliminate them. I have not tried that remedy yet, but mine are very minimal. Good luck!

Make it a GREAT day!

It's more than likely ingrown hairs, just like I get. I've just learned that if I shave less often, it will stay away 90% of the time. Sadly, I can only shave about twice a week but it keeps the irritation away. I just make sure I shave on the days I necessarily have to and then wait a few days before I have to shave again. As long as you don't go sleeveless, no one will know. I've tried different medicines, deodorants, etc and this is what seems to keep the irritation away the best. Sorry it's not the solution you were looking for, but it seems to be the best for me.

You are getting ingrown hairs. It could be that your hair grows in very curly or that your razor is old.

Hi Elizabeth,

Sounds like ingrown hairs. Ouch! You need to slough off the dead skin cells covering the opening to the hair follicle. Just get some exfolliating gloves from the bubble bath section of Target or Wal-Mart. Dollar Tree has them too. Then scrub them everyday before you shave. I also use them all over my body. It feels great and my skin is super soft.

I'm pretty sure it has aluminum in it but the Dove deodorant really does help keep underarms smooth and unirritated. I love it. It's also the best I've found for not getting all over my clothes.

Tend Skin is an awesome product too! I've used it on my bikini line before!

Good luck!
