How to Get Rid of Bumps

This is going to sound really nasty (or incredibly humorous, depending on the person), but I've tried everything I can think of. My skin is really bumpy on my underarms, and I can't make it go away. I shave them every day, because it bothers me not to. If I have to go a few days without shaving, the bumps are smaller and less noticeable. I have tried switching razors, shaving cream (when I use it), and deodorants, but it is still there. I don't go around showing off my armpits, and don't frequently wear sleeveless shirts, but it still bothers me. It may be normal, but I don't look at other people's armpits to compare either. Does anyone else have this problem, or have some ideas to share on how to get my skin to be normal? My mom said she had the same problem a few years ago, but once she hit menopause, she hasn't needed to shave anymore, and they are gone. I don't want to wait until that phase to not feel abnormal because of something as gross as my armpits. Thanks in advance, and sorry for having to bring something this stupid to the website. I'm just irritated with it.

What can I do next?

Definitely wax!! I've just recently started waxing that part of my body and I absolutely love it. I used to get bumps too, hence why I started waxing - it's the only way to go in my opinion! (Not painful in the least)

I would suggest using men's shaving cream like the unscented. It works well and it is thicker. I know that this sounds funny have you tried using diaper rash cream that helps with razor burn.

Have you tried using an unscented deoderant? It may be a reaction to the perfumes.

you answered you own question. You get less bumps if you don't shave.

So maybe a change in routine can help. Don't shave then automatically go put on antiperspiratnt. This will clog up your pores. Shave before bed and give your skin a chance to rest before applying anything to them. Then in the morning you can rub them down with a cool wash cloth and pat then dry before applying your usual routine.

I use Dove because it offers fewer irritations but I also sleep in tank tops or sleeveless t-shirts that don't allow the fabric to rub in that area. Even your bra, the fabric softener you use or don't use, new formulas of detergent~soap or perfume and certain types of clothing can irritate this area. Eliminate one thing a week and see if things don't improve.

I use a depilatory creme and that seems to leave less bumps, but I like the waxing idea!! Thanks for asking the question, one of those that most of us wouldnt ask out of embarrassment, but that is silly, we all have the same problem..LOL!

Jenn-
I have incredibly sensite skin as well and I didn't get the bumps just under my armpits, I also got them on my legs. I talked to a dermatologist about it and he recommended shaving gel for sensitive skin. It has really worked for me. And also, if you can cut it down and shave every other day your skin may not get as irritated. Plus, the main reason why that happens is b/c your hair follicle gets clogged when the hair tries to grow back, so he recommended shaving only one way (not up and down like most people do). Also try a deodorant for sensitive skin...it may seem like simple solutions, but they really do work. My bumps are gone completely. Hope this helps!

I have mine waxed. You don't get bumps and you only have to have them redone about once a month. It's awesome. It really doesn't hurt to have underarms waxed, compared to having a Brazilian wax! :-) When I shaved, I always had ingrown hairs and bumps.

Have you used body wash instead of shaving cream to shave under your arms, or try using hair conditioner.

Hope that helps

Good Luck
