Thanks tones for your suggestions!

When I recently went to a baby shower we played two games. One was where everyone got a clothes pen and two words were forbidden (like little and baby) and every time someone says one of the words the first person to catch them saying it takes a clothes pen and the one who has the most at the end wins. The other game that was played was around the cake they had things set up (like a play cell phone and baby things) and after everyone had a chance to look at the cake, but not know that looking at everything was part of a game they were taken into another room then asked to write down everything on the table including things like the cake what was on the cake, the plates, napkins, forks and other things like that then all the little toys, and whoever got the most won. I hope that helps.

We are having a baby shower for my oldest daughter in mid November and one of the things they are doing that everyone gets a kick out of "guess how big around Momma's belly is"...we pass around rolls of toilet paper ( or crepe paper...anything like that)....and each person breaks off a piece that they think will fit exactly around the Mom to be's tummy. The winner is the one who comes closest...without going "over"!!!
We also are going to take tiny little newborn disposable diapers...(3 or 4 of them ) and in each one we will put a different little chocolate candy bar of some sort....put them in the microwave...just long enough for them to get "goopy"...then each guest has to guess what the "poop" in each diaper is...without tasting of course!!!
The last one is more of a keepsake for the Mom...we have decorated colored cards in the theme of the party and will ask each guest ( and emailed each one that isnt able to come...for their's) to write down a piece of baby advice...then the Mom can put them in the baby book for reference later.

you've got alot of good games to choose from. I've played all of those except the diaper one which does sound gross but it sounds like fun.

A couple of other easy ones that wouldn't take much prep that I've done or seen done are.

1. Baby bottle drink race. Put koolaid or colored water so you can see in several bottles and see who can drink the fastest (with nipple on) or who has drank the most ounces by the buzzer.)

2. Baby stuff quiz. Have a set amount of time and have guests list all items that are needed for a newborn. Who ever gets the most wins.

3. Baby name game. Write on a board or on top of pieces of papeer and copy for all guests the name of the baby if they've picked one out or use one of the ones their serious about. Have guests spell out as many other names as they can using the letters of the baby's first, middle, and or last name. Timed and whoever has most wins.

4. Lullabye timed quiz. Have guests write down as many baby/toddler songs as they can think of. A variation to this if you have several guests is to make it kind of like team games where you list well known baby/toddler songs on sheets of paper and have one team draw one out and let all on their team know what it is and make sure they know the tune (not all the words). If they all do, then they face the opposite team and HUM the tune for so many seconds until the other team guesses or time runs out.

Hope that helps. Have fun!

If you're looking for something EASY, you can play Baby Bingo. Just make copies of a blank grid (I think mine was 25 squares-- 5x5). Have everyone write in each of their empty squares an item they think the mom will open during the shower (onesies, bottle, blanket...). You can put a "free" in the middle if you like. Then as the mom opens her gifts, if a guest has it listed on their bingo card, they cross it off. The first guest to make a line gets a prize.

That is about the easiest baby game to prepare for, though it's not an activity that will help to fill time, since it happens while the mom opens presents.

I've also played the game where you buy 10 baby items and put each in a paper lunch bag (write a number on each bag). People have to feel the item through the bag and try to guess what it is. The guest who gets the most right, wins.

But the absolutely most fun game I've played is where you get 8-10 different kinds of baby food and people have to smell them to guess what flavor it is. The funny part is that you put a spoonful of each in a newborn-size diaper. (be sure to number the diapers and write down what the flavor is for each number so you don't forget) The first one I opened really threw me for a loop because the food looks just like newborn poop when you first open it up! Again, the person who gets the most right, wins.

As for prizes, you might want to have one extra on hand, in case there's a tie. That's happened at 2 showers I've been to. Have fun!

A fun game at my baby shower several years ago was melting different candy bars and smearing them into the middle of the diaper (gross, I know) but it was a fun game. There was a list of 10+ candy bars on a chart and we had to guess which candybars went to which diapers. Just number the diapers so you can keep track of which ones.

Another shower I went to which was a fun game was they sent a tray around and you had a few seconds to observe the tray of baby stuff and the object was to see who could remember the most things. But the twister was, they sent the pregnant lady to another room and they said "name everything you can about the expectant mother........... what she was wearing, etc). It was fun.

When I host a baby shower, I like to play the baby word un- scramble game. Example bottle (tolteb)I usually use about 15-20 words. The person who has the most unscambled wins a small gift. Another game that is fun, as everyone is coming in place a diaper pin or small ribbon, etc on the persons top or blouse, if they say BABY and another person hears them they get to steal there pin, ribbon, etc, who ever has the most at the end of the party wins a small gift. I hope this has helped. Enjoy your party

Hey F.. Here's a couple of games : The crossing game. Everyone gets a safty pin and pin it on them. Whoever crosses their arms, legs, feet, eyes, etc. and gets caught, they lose their pin and at the end whoever has the most pins win a gift. It's kinda like the,"can't say baby" game. Everyone will be sitting down all comfortable and someone is bound to cross their legs. Another one is get a basket and put baby things in it like bottles, rattles, wipes, a pamper, comb & brush, towls, etc, and let everyone look at the basket for 3-5 seconds (you can just hold the basket up or pass it around). Put the basket away, and everyone write down what was in the basket. The person who writes down the most things win. Another one is get some yarn or string. The mom to be stands up and everyone cut a piece of string that they think can fit around mom to be stomach. The string has to be a perfect fit or close to it. I have so many more. Email me for more or if you need a more clear understanding of one of the games. ____@____.com luck and have fun. Let me know what games you chose!

I just had a shower a few weeks ago and these are a few of the things we did...
*Pictionary (split into 2 groups- use a large peice of white poster board taped to the wall or wherever you can put it... put a bunch of baby related items in a basket and have the teams take turns drawing pics and the team with the most correct guesses at the end wins a prize- fun and cheap!)
*This one's not as cheap, but is really cute and fun... Decorate little baby onesies with fabric paint. I've done this at a few showers that I've had and they always turn out SO cute.

Good Luck!

Hi F.,

I attended a baby shower a few years ago where we all had to taste little samples of baby food and try to guess what it was. The people that got the most right won the prize. I think that we were split into groups of two and each group had about 5 different types of baby food. I unfortunately got stuck with stuff that tested my gag reflexes, but it was fun.

Hope this helps!

I know several games!
1. Take diapers and melt candy bars in them. pass them around and have everyone guess what the candy bar is. Have them write it down then whoever guessed the most correct gets a prize (which of course they give to the pregnant lady)!
2. Take bottles and fill them with apple juice. the first to chug the whole thing gets a prize!
3. pass around baby food jars with the labels taken off and have each person guess what they are. The can smell them, taste them, etc. Have them write them down and the person with the most correct answer wins a prize!
Hope this helps!!!

At my shower in June we played:
Baby Bingo where everyone writes down on a grid what gifts the mom wil be opening, of course this is done before the gift opening begins. Who ever gets bingo wins a prize.

Everyone wears a baby pin and once the shower begins no one can say the word baby or the future kiddo's name, if they do someone points it out to them and that someone gets that pin. Whoever has the most pins at the end wins a prize.

Guess the baby food. You take the label off of say 7 different baby foods and pass them around having people guess what food is in each jar. You will need to purchase a few difficult foods in with the easy foods and do not forget to write the names of the foods down so you can judge who wins.

Good Luck!

Or fill up a basket with baby items give them so long to look at it then have them write everything that they remember was in there. Hope maybe this helps a little!!

There is the traditional Baby Bingo - you can either buy cards at any party shop, or make your own. You can also do a word scramble (mix up the letters in the words and have the guests unscramble them within a certain time limit). Another game includes putting a bunch of baby items in a box or tray, have the guests look at the tray for about 10-15 seconds, then take it away, and they write down as many items as they can remember (afterwards you can give all the baby items to the Mom-to-be). You need a skein of yarn for the next game. Have everyone cut off a piece of yarn that they think will fit around the Mom-to-be's belly. After everyone has their yarn, have them wrap it around the new Mom, and whoever is the closest to having the right length, wins.
Hopefully these suggestions will help. Most of them are easy and simple to put together. They also have books at party supply stores that have baby shower games in them. Good luck, and have fun!

One that we have done at several showers (and has always been a hit) is the "Break your water" game. You take tiny plastic babies (you can find these at cake decorator shops or even at wal-mart in the craft section) and place them in ice trays, so they will be frozen inside a piece of ice. Shortly after you start the party, or you can do this while she is opening gifts, hand one out to every guest (in a small cup so they don't melt all over the place!) and the first one to have their "water break" and to get the baby out is the winner! People can get creative on ways to get to the ice melt so you might want to make a few rules, such as you can't put the whole thing in your mouth! Good luck and just have fun!!!!

This is one of the funnest baby shower games I have ever seen....
You buy ten different candy bars. You can use those little ones. Take ten diapers, Number them one to ten. you put the candy bar inside where the baby would wet and smash it all up in there good. The guest pass the diapers around and smell them, undo the tapes and try to figure out what kind of "poop" or candy bar is in that diaper. They write the candy bar name down on which ever number that the diaper had on it. It is so wierd how your brain tricks you into thinking You dont' want to do it, but it is so much fun. The whole crowd laughed so loud and enjoyed it so much. The person that guesses most right wins. You get alot of fun pictures while they are smelling it.

hey F., here are a couple of ideas we do for baby showers in our family: 1) get a baby doll and a cloth diaper and tell the people at the shower that they have to try and pin the diaper on the baby with one hand behind their back and w/o making the diaper fall off after they get both pins on the diaper. and 2) have you heard a needle in a hay stack, well this game is a bunch of tiny safety pins in a bowl of uncooked rice. they all have about 1 minute to find as many pins as they can w/o looking. they are usually blind folded so they cant see what they are looking for. its a fun game and whoever gets the most wins. also on the baby doll one, whoever does it the fastest wins. hope this helps. have fun.
