I have a mom-owned invitation business located in Oak Lawn. I do carry some shower games. Also I have some adorable baby shower invites and favors if you are still in need of any of these items. For the month of June all baby shower items are 20% off. You can view some of my items on my website at www.goodtimesinvitations.cceasy.com. You can do a baby shower version of "Hot Potato", which I call "Dirty Diaper". Fill a diaper with smashed chocolate bars, and play music while guests pass the dirty diaper. When you stop the music, the guest holding the diaper is out. Play until one guest remains, and that person is the winner.

Another game I had fun with is to write a story about Mr. and Mrs. Wright, about how they went into labor and drove to the hospital to have their baby. Use the words "right" or "Wright" and "left" as many times as possible. Give two guests small prizes (for example, a votive candle wrapped in tulle), and read the story aloud. Every time you say the words "right" or "wright" and "left", the guests holding the prizes have to pass the prize in the appropriate direction. The guests who have the prizes at the end of the story get to keep them.

I agree games aren't really necessary but if your friends would like to play some games, here are some:

1) Guess how big her belly is by using yarn. I know some people get very offended by this so ask her first if she would mind having people guess how big she is.

2) Don't say "baby" game. Each guest gets a diaper pin when they arrive (Babies R Us has colored diaper pins). When person A says the word "baby", then person B can take away person A's diaper pin. The person with the most diaper pins at the end of the shower wins the game. This is easy because it doesn't take any time and people who aren't into games just say "baby" right away which is fine but then some people really have fun with it. You can make a rule that if someone who has lots of pins says "baby" they have to give up all their pins, not just one pin.

3) Guess the baby food. Pass around jars of unmarked baby food and people write down what they think it is....there isn't any tasting of the food...just guess by sight (you could smell if you wanted to)

4) Celebrity baby. Haven't played this one but I've heard about it. Every guest gets a celebrity baby name put on their forehead or their back so they don't know the name (i.e. Suri Cruise) People have to guess what celebrity baby they have by using/asking clues....like if you had Suri Cruise you'd say "your haircut is so popular that adults are getting it"....I don't know the rules of this one.

Have fun!

At my shower everyone had fun with "guess the poop" You take a diaper and melt a mini chololate bar in it. People smell, lick-n-taste, stare, do whatever they can tno guess ehat the candy bar is. Have the video camera ready because people's faces are priceless.

Another good one is a memory game. Have a tray full of baby supply items 9great for decor too). Secondly have the mom leave the room and put on extra jewery, change shoes, etc. Then have the new mom walk around with the tray so everyone can look. Mom leaves the room then people have to guess what SHE had on. It's unexpected and funny what people come up with.

Good luck

Games are fun - it helps break the ice. Don't listen to the fuddy duddies. =)

Take 10 brown lunch bags and mark on the front one letter spelling out BABY SHOWER. In each bag put a baby item that starts with that letter. Then have a piece of paper with BABY SHOWER spelled downward. Put lines at each letter and have the guests try to guess what is in the bag. The one with the most correct items win. B (bottle) A (applesauce) etc. You could alternate Pink and Blue letters on the Bags.

CLOTHESLINE - Hang a clothesline in the room and have lots of
clothes pins handy. Each time the mom-to-be gets a piece of clothing - hang it on the clothesline. It looks really cute and everyone can see all the baby clothes.

I am in the no-games camp, but if you must -

Give everyone a blank "bingo" card and have then write in the gifts they think the mom will receive. Then they check off the gifts as the mom opens the gifts. The hosts award gifts for "bingo"

We had a really good time with the "baby shower bingo" game at my sister-in-law's shower. It gives the guests something to do while the guest of honor is opening her gifts. I was able to find pre-printed bingo cards online for free and print them at home. Then all I had to do was get something to use for marking the spaces.

I've been to a couple showers lately where there were no games. . . and everybody loved that! I don't know anybody who really wants to play games. I know I sure don't. Socializing and gift opening and eating seem like enough. So maybe you don't need any?

The BEST thing we ever did is let my husband have a "Diaper Keg" We bought a keg of beer and while i was in the house with the ladies having my shower him and the partners of my girlfriends were out drinking the keg, but in order to drink out of the keg the men had to bring a package of diapers or wipes. I didnt buy diapers untill my baby girl was 6 months old, and then i still had some higher sizes she wasn't fitting into yet.
Then after my shower we all went outside to the keg and played bean bags and other lawn games.
Kind of sucks for the pregnant lady to watch everyone drinking beer and having fun but well worth it for the diapers!!!
