Anyone Used Merry Maids?

I have gotten so far behind in my house cleaning that I was thinking of hiring someone to come in and get it all done. I know that I can keep up with it, but it just seems like there it too much to do all at once now. I have never had anyone come before, so I was wondering if anyone has even tried Merry Maids or heard anything good about them.

Also, anyone with house cleaning experience...I have a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom townhouse, any idea on how much is a reasonable charge to expect for cleaning?

Thank You!!!

I use White Glove cleaning service and am quite happy with them. I get them occassionally, I feel they do a great job and are reasonable.

Good Luck

I had used Merry Maids was less than thrilled with their cleaning job. I now use Maid Brigade and it's about $164 a month for a 4 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath, 3 story home. I have been happy with the job they have done so far. They also just went "green" at the beginning of May so that's another plus for us. Good luck!

We used Merry Maids once because I got a gift certificate from work and not only was it very expensive. I don't remember exactly now because it was a couple years ago but they did a HORRIBLE job. I actually had to go after them and clean everything they misseed and then when I called to compliain nothing happened at all. I would not use them again. I then used another service, forgot who that was and they used old english on my wood floors which is fine but they didn't dilute it and just left it on my floors so the floors were slippery with Old English. Again, had to come home and re-do all my floors and everything they missed. I guess I just haven't had much luck in the cleaning service area. I doubt I'll ever hire anyone else to clean. Why bother when I just end up re-doing it or finishing it. If you find someone you like that's reasonable add them to the directory here on Mamasource!

Good luck!

I have used an independant cleaning service and have been very happy. Unfortunatly I recently canceled the service because of the cost ($70 each cleaning-3bedroom 3 bath two story house), but I will for certain rehire them once it is in our budget again. I would interview a few independent services, they seem to be a little more personable than the chains.

We use Home Cleaning Centers of America. I am not sure where you are, but they have a offices in different suburbs including Tinley Park and Willow Springs. I posted about them before if you want more info. As for pricing, it depends on if you want them once or more often, though I find them to be competitively priced. With their quality assurance checks, I have always been very pleased.
