House Cleaning Service

I have some friends coming to visit soon that will be staying with us, and need to get the house cleaned. I have never had any kind of maid service, but with work and the demands of 2 small kids...its going to be hard to get it all done in time. So, I looked into various services but you have to get an estimate, nothing says how much it will cost. I know every house is different and it depends on what you want done, Im just looking for a ballpark figure before I pursue further. I live in gilbert, az and I would just want a one time cleaning. Floors vacuumed and mopped, 3 bathrooms cleaned, dusting, etc. I would love to get the woodwork cleaned too. House is 2300 sq ft. If anyone has any feedback I would appreciate it. I asked some friends and they told me to do it myself, services won't do as good of a job as you would like. Have you found this to be true? How much (about) would this cost me?

What can I do next?

It was $150 for our initial cleaning and is $100 every other week thereafter.

Im in CA, my house is a 3 bdroom, 1 bath, living & tv room, nice sized kitchen, about 1600sq ft, my lady charges me $80 for a one time full cleaning, this includes ceiling fans, base boards, shower/tub/glass & tile and the basics...For that size and 3 bathrooms I would expect around $150+ for one time...good luck and enjoy :)

Merry Maids was about $250 for the initial clean when we had 2000 sq feet (they did 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, kitchen, family room). Then it was $116 every 2 weeks for 2-3 gals for 2 hours (fixed price). Current house, Mari's Cleaning does about the same, though all the rooms are a bit bigger and there's a huge hall to mop. They charge about $25 an hour per person. Initial cleaning was about $200 (2 gals 4 hours, but they did the whole place). Now it's about $100 every 2 weeks, but goes higher if I don't pick up well first.

I would say, based upon places we've lived where the cost of living is probably similar to AZ, that you're looking at ~$150 to get your house spic and span the first time. This would be a deep clean, and keep in mind that I've never used a "service" - only cleaning ladies who work for themselves. So this price is based on that - a cleaning service would be more expensive almost certainly. Check with your neighbors and friends and see if any of them have a cleaning lady they really love, and then call her. You'll get better results than with a service, I think.

Anyhow, after that you are probably looking at $60-75 per visit to keep it clean, again depending upon what you want done, and how often you have her come.

Well how perfectly clean do you want the house to be, for them?

We have house guests.
I make it clean. But not more special than any other day.
Our friends know we have kids and are busy.
They don't expect a museum when they come to stay at our house.
They basically come to stay over and have a place to sleep and not have to pay for a hotel, and they are pretty busy everyday and out on their own plans.

If you want it real nice and clean, well I guess a cleaning service will help... especially since doing it yourself is time consuming.

Just Google search cleaning services in your city, and price them out.
Every area, will vary.

I use Elite Cleaning Solutions and they are great. I have 2 kids under 2 and they have varied services. Sometimes I just have them come and do bathrooms and floors because those are the two things I just hate. They have very reasonable prices and I got a quote over the phone. Their website is elitecleanaz.com, you might want to check it out.

Hope this helps:)

I have a gal who comes once a month. She spends 4 hours cleaning 2 bathrooms, dusting 1 bedroom, cleaning the stove top, wiping appliance doors, sweeping and mopping the kitchen and bathroom floors and vacuumning the livingroom. She washes the patio door, and wipes door jams and wall corners where there might be hand prints. Shes fast, shes good and she earns every penny of the $80 I pay her. She charges more for some homes she cleans since they are bigger and harder to do. She does say Im her easiest since we really only have the 1 bedroom she has to work with, and never has to touch stuff in my dining room other than the window blinds. The toy room is not her problem and I clean stuff right along with her. I do give her more when its been really messy.
