Anyone Ever Buy Infant Formula from EBAY?

Hi Ladies. My little pumpkin has a milk allergy. I discovered this when I began supplementing 1-2 feedings a day with formula. She started getting streaks of blood in her stools. After my DR. tested her stools on a breasmilk only/dairy free diet she was OK again. Anyway, I tried the Nutramagin, same reaction. So now I have to buy the highly sensitive type (Elecare) which costs $33/can, she would need at least 2 cans a week. I looked on Ebay and I saw cases that would equate to $20/can, a big savings. Obviously I'm a little leary, anyone have any experience buying this type of product from Ebay?

What can I do next?

Go for it. If you are really concerned, check to make sure the seller has a return policy, so that when you receive it, if you belive the can has been tampered with, you can return it. But otherwise, I have bought food products & stuff like that off ebay and have never had a problem. If it can save you money, go for it!

My sister bought nutramigen for my nephew on Ebay and never had a problem. She was also able to get some from her pediatrician every once in a while. That stuff is EXPENSIVE! Good luck!
P.S. Sometimes you can also buy coupons for FREE formula on ebay or craigslist, then you don't have to worry about the quality of the formula, you can just go out and buy your own.

I haven't bought any formula on ebay, but I did buy some on Craig's list for my grandson. I made sure with the seller that they were unopened cans, and what the expiration date was. On ebay, make sure you check the seller's rating, if they have alot of positive feedbacks, I would say that they are being truthful about the dates and etc. As with anything on ebay, you have to make sure that you deal with a reputable seller.
good luck!

I have bought formula on e-bay. My son was on nutramagen and we had some good savings with buying on e-bay. I'm pregnant with our second and whatever this child will be on, i'll probably try to purchase it again on e-bay as well.
Just on another note....I totally understand the high cost of formula can be a real strain on your budget. what I did was I called my doctors office, told them the situation...that my son was on nutramagen and he needs this formula but we cant afford it and I dont know what to do. I didn't think they could do much but they sent me a whole case of it for free. It was a one time thing, but gosh it helped!

maybe you could try that, the worst they'd say is no.

good luck

I would just save your time and money and stick with breastmilk. You could always pump if you needed to have someone else give her a bottle at times. Then you would know for sure that she was eating only the best food for her and would not have to worry about any allergy problems.
