Hi moms. I had my second son 3 months ago, and my body just can't seem to get it together!! I went on my birth control pill (seasoniqe sp?) at my 6 week check up. When I was on my 2nd month of it, my first period came back and it was heavy and lasted like 2 weeks, then it tapered off but I was still having spotting off and on, finally I was so sick of it I have decided to go off my birth control and see if I can get my body back to normal! I stopped about 3 days ago and I started my period again yesterday and its super heavy again!! is that normal after stopping birth control even though I already had a period? I do need to go to the OB to check my area for what I think is some kind of infection (yeast or bacterial) but I can't go till I stop bleeding. I was just wondering if any of you have gone thru something similar after stopping the pill?? I just want to be normal again!! My body is telling me 2 babies was a bit two much for me and it doesn’t seem to want to heal, im having so many aches and pains :0/

Thanks for all your help!!

What can I do next?

Yep, that's totally normal, especially if you stopped the pill during mid-cycle, which sounds like what you did.

After my second child, my periods went wacko. (I didn't use BC, the hormones made me a raving lunatic - lol.) Extremely heavy and long. It took about two years to even out.
Give it some time, your body will get back into the groove.

I have never been on birth control, but 3 months is a very short amount of time. I'm not sure that anything you were experiencing is abnormal 3 months postpartum.

Making an appointment with your OB to check things out and ask some questions is a great idea.

I think you just need to be more patient. It can take several months for your body to regulate itself again. Everyone is different, but I don't think my period was back to normal until after at least 6 months.

Totally normal to me. I had super-heavy periods for 6 months after my last pregnancy, to such a degree that I was looking into getting an IUD inserted. Then from 7-12 months pp they tapered off and got back to normal. I found that with each pregnancy, it took longer to really recover (and honestly some things will never go back to normal). I bounced back almost 100% within 4 months after my first but by the time I had my last, it was probably a year before my hormones and joints felt normal again.

Give your body the time it needs to rest and recover. Growing a person is hard work and we shouldn't expect our bodies to just snap right back to the way they were before.

Your body is reacting normally. Give yourself some time, and don't think you can't go back to the OB to be checked for an infection if you're bleeding. They are used to that, and don't think anything about it.

It took me a good 4 months to get back to a "normal" cycle, and after my 2nd pregnancy, my periods are always heavy and wacky. Guess that's the gift you get from childbirth. Stopping your birth control just confused your body. Give it a little more time to even out.

Good luck!

I think we forget what we went through for 9 months and during delivery and so recovery is really something that takes time. It's not having two children but you just need more time to heal and you now have another child to care for that you didn't have when you had your first. See your doctor and be checked out and then take it slowly and don't lift and bend so much for a bit to heal and rest when you can for bit. You'll be back in shape very soon.

You're rushing things. I went on no birth control after either child. For the first one, I bled for 6 weeks after the birth, then had a period, then no period for two months, then another two-week period, you get the picture. For the second one, I bled for about 4 weeks, didn't get my period until my daughter was 4-months old, but didn't get a regular period until she was 10 months old. Even then, my periods were heavier and longer than they had ever been before.

Your hormones are still wonky, and by starting, then stopping, then starting your birth control, you've made them even more so. I would just pick a state of being (either on the Pill or off it) and stick with it for a little while to see what happens. Chances are, you still have a couple more months of confusion before things even out.

I only have one, and my body pulled a Murphy on me. I bled for nearly a year, then my cycles were back to being erratic. I've had allergic reactions to most Birth Control, so I've not had any thing long enough to comment. For what it's worth, my son is now near eight years old, and they are finally starting to resemble normal.

I was exhausted from trying to do too much. It took several of my friends intervening for me to actually rest and let my body heal. They actually came over and force me to spend time on myself(taking a hot shower every day for example). Since I was nursing, they took turns trying to feed him from a bottle. He ended up not liking it so much, they fed him from an actual sip cup, which was very slow going.
The one good thing that came from that was the realisation that if I didn't take care of myself, my body would make me do it anyway, so I always even now make sure I have an hour for me time.

Seeing as how you mention the possibility of an infection, I'd say that is the cause of the aches and pains part of it. Goto the doctors ASAP. They are used to seeing this, as not every woman stops bleeding after a few months.

Take care Mama!
