Its a little embarrassing to ask, but since I don't know you face to face, it makes it easier! Just wondering if any other moms out their still suffer from a case of the "roids" and what you did to help them go away. I got them with my first pregnancy and I still have them....ewww. I have tried the creams, wipes,etc...all the stuff to make them go away and they won't. The only time they bother me is if I have a tummy problem and have diarreah...gross. They don't hurt otherwise, but am self consious about them when my husband and I get intimate. I don't want him to get grossed out either. Any other moms out there have or have had this problem? and what did you do about it? Any advice would be great! Thanks..... C.

You know what? It is completely normal for pregnant women to get them because of the pressure exerted by the baby. Some people get more during a vaginal delivery too, depending on how hard they push. I got a small one at the end of my pregnancy that I cannot seem to get rid of. I tried the tucks pads and all, but nothing seems to work. What I learned is that everyone has hemmoroids! They are there to keep the poop and juices (gross) inside the body until you are ready to expel them. When they are inflammed they get bigger either internally or externally and are what gives us problems. For you, you may want to go see a dr. because if it hurts during diarrea (also a great time to develop them, surprisingly) you may have one that is a little open and it could get infected...

As for the intimacy, well, I'm sure he has no clue they're there, and if he did, he doesn't care. If he loves you enough to be with you 5 years and make 3 kids with you, he doesn't care how your body changes with time, and especially with children. For me, I got a horrible one that was killing me a few months after I delivered. I didn't know what it was and I couldn't see what it was (lovely conversation, I know) so I actually had to make him look....so very, very embarassing....Anyway, my point is that if you asked him, he will probably say he doesn't notice anything and doesn't care.

Take care,
M. M.

I have the same issue sometimes still & my kid is going on 7 years old. I have used the wipes when it happens & it helps cool it down a little. For the diarreah i have used anti-diarrheal caplets - they have helped me. You take only 2 caplets after each loose stool & 1 caplet after each subsequent loose stool. Drink plenty of clear fluid to help prevent dehydration caused by diarrhea. Try this if you feel ok with it & please let me know if it helped .??

I heard that kegels help with hemmerroids, bet you didn't know that~~ Kegels (tightening of the vaginal walls, every pregnant lady has heard of them, i'm sure).

Well, after my second child, my hemerroids were so bad. Finally my mom told me that kegels help the hemerroids go away, since then i've been doing them and they have helped a lot!!

First of all- the creams and pads and all the other OTC treatments are just to mask the symptoms. They do NOT get rid of hemorrhoids. Once you have had a hemorrhoid, you have it. PERIOD! (Sorry, I know this isn't what you wanted to hear.); although, you can go “into remission” for long periods of time. Second, if their really bothering you, talk to your Dr. The only permanent solution I know of (but I’m sure there are plenty more) is a small surgery. I believe it's an out patient procedure. Basically, from what I understand, they use a self cauterizing blade to remove the “problem”.
Something to keep in mind is “active” hemorrhoids are “varicosities or swelling and inflammation of veins in the rectum and anus”. That being said, anti-inflammatory medication and/ or icing it may help to relive the symptoms. Also, as soon as you feel the faintest hint of irritation, drink LOTS of water. Dehydration can cause a hard stool, which can lead to hemorrhoid irritation. An excess of lactic acid in the stool, a product of excessive consumption of milk products such as cheese, can cause irritation and a reduction of consumption can bring relief. Vitamin E deficiency is also a common cause.
Prevention of hemorrhoids includes drinking more fluids, eating more dietary fiber, exercising, practicing better posture, and reducing bowel movement strain and time. Hemorrhoid sufferers should avoid using laxatives and should strictly limit time straining during bowel movement. Wearing tight clothing and underwear will also contribute to irritation and poor muscle tone in the region and promote hemorrhoid development. Some sufferers report a more comfortable experience without underwear or wearing only very lightweight panties, etc.
Some of this information is straight from www.wikipedia.org if you want to get more info.

As long as the ‘rhoids aren’t too bad, your husband probably won’t ever notice them while being intimate. If they are really bad, I’m not sure being intimate would be a wise choice for your own health. Hope at least part of this is helpful. -Janell- :-)

Hi C. S.,
First of all I don't think it's nothing out of the ordinary. Many women get them and men too, so no shame there ok?
My mom got htem and she had them surgicaly removed; they were very painful. I got them after my 2nd pregnancy; what I learned is that they are inflammed veins that pop out. Mine are small about the size of a pea; I sit in the tub with nice hot water and that seems to help. I also do exercices by squizing my anus whenever I remember. It has helped. You could try to do what I do. It may work for you, but may be you should consult a doctor, and if you want them removed, just tell him and I'm pretty shure he'll help you. Have a very happy day!

Have you tryed talking to your obgyn about it? Or another doctor? I know how you feel. When I had my second child I had bad hemmroids. I thought it was pretty painful.

Good luck! I hope you get some better advice than mine.

My mother got "roids" when my brother was born, 23 years ago!, She finely could not take it any longer and had them removed. She said it was so simple and quick and it really saved her a lot! She had them bad, hurt to walk by the time she forced her self to get them fixed. They just tied the ends with little rubber bands and told her they would just fall off and she would have no other problems. Well she hasn't and I wanted to let you know that if they are bad this might be something quick and easy to fix! No down time and she said after we left Disney World on the seventh day she would have never been able to do it if she didn't have them removed! Besides the doctor who does this, looks at bums all day long, you should know that when making an appointment!

I'm rather an expert on this subject LOL!
I have BAD food allergies that cause random symptoms from blisters on my hands to brain fogs to hemerroids. Added to that, my last pregnancy caused them to be so bad I thought I might have to go into the doctor. But I looked and researched and found something that WORKED!!
I've long believed in the effectiveness of essential oils, so when I found this company I was thrilled. They have ones just for pregnant women too. Including specific ones that actually heal the bleeding.
It WORKED for me---but you must be willing to be consistant. It's a 3 times a day application and it's not always easy to remember. In my case I wound up setting my cell phone alarm. lol
Anyway, Here's the link for you to check out http://www.amoils.com/

Take Care!
