My 6 year old has started hitting and punching her sisters. She seems frustrated and angry when she is doing it, but then once we separate her, she is calm she understands she can't. I have spoke with her teacher at school and she hasn't noticed anything out of the ordinary.
Have you asked her why she is hitting. Is there someone at school or a friend that is doing this same thing to your daughter? I think that I would try talking to her when she is calm and before she gets angry and is hitting.
There has to be a reason why she is doing this!!
If nothing is happening at school to really be affecting that kind of behavior, maybe it has to do with feeling in competition with her sisters. At school it's just her, and she doesn't have to compete for attention or can be her own person. But at home she feels like her sisters are "in the way".
I'm wondering if your daughter is lacking attention. She is at a difficult age. Or maybe your other girls are provocking her, or on the other hand has she been around someone who is violent at home or at school. she may just be acting on something she is seeing. I would try talking to her and giving her a little more attention when she does things that are good. However try not to give her too much attention when she is being bad. could her sisters be provoking her? maybe she is doing it in retaliation of something they are doing to her. you just need to talk to all of them to get to the bottom of why she is doing this.
