My oldest son has returned to our home. He is 9 and has special needs. I guess this change is why my 5 year old has started wetting the bed again (for attention?). I think this is all behavioral. I've gone back to a revised potty training at night - the no fluids after 7 (they go down around 8:15 or so), going right before bed, etc. I don't know what else I could be doing. Please give me your suggestions. If I can't get this resolved, or some progress in the next week or two, I will seek the advice of an M.D. Thanks in advance!

As for your question. Just be sure to give your 5 year old positive attention. Focus on His GOOD behavior, give him "His" time with you, and get him involved with your child with special needs. You're 5 year old has "special needs" too, being the sibling to a "special needs" child can be kinda tough.

If you are still having problems try a bedwetting alarm He would were it to bed and it goes off when he starts to pee. It worked for my son My doctor told me about it You can find it on the internet.

If the wetting is jealously related....try offering a reward for not wetting.
For each morning the bed is dry...offer "SPECIAL TIME" with your child and do something cool with him....not too awfully time consuiming but fun and rewarding to him.
Also encourage voiding prior to be time....the more that comes out before bed the less that ends up in the bed. Also restrict solids after 7....solids can cause pressure on the blatter.
If all else fails...not sure if this applies to boys as well asgirls but check into "Hinman's syndrome" Dr. Godiwalla (spell) of the Midwest (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a leading Pediatric Urologist. If not mistaken she had studied along side Dr. Hinman's son in researcing Hinman's syndrome...maybe she could lead you in the right direction and give you a solid referal in your neck of the woods.

Bed wetting isn't always a sign of a bladder weaknest, especially in the case of boys. It is probably emotional talk to him, love on him, give him more attention.
