Hello fellow moms. I have a just over two year old daughter, and she has had cradle cap ever since she was months old. We were able to remove it then with some gentle oils, but now it will be hard to keep her seated that long. She has several patches of very scaly skin on her scalp, and I have also tried gently massaging with my fingers to lift it but I think we need something more effective. Any advice, techniques, or helpful products would be great. Prefer methods as natural as possible !

So What Happened?

Thank you so very much to everyone who responded ! We started using the California Baby Tea Tree oil shampoo, after one small application of dandruff shampoo, and it's much better ! Thank you!

Hi

My dr. recommended to wash hair with Selson blue once a week-it dries up the cradle cap and it worked well. Get the finest toothed comb you find to help remove.

At two years old, try when your daughter is napping or asleep. You can try combing baby oil through her hair with a fine comb. Baby Aveno for the skin. This worked on my son & we got results within a week! Good luck.

We rubbed olive oil in the morning on his head, then hydrocortizone 2x daily for two weeks... and that seemed to work for us.
Maybe bribe your two year old with a little treat to rub some on her head.
I've also heard about using a dab of the dandruff shampoo and washing their hair with that...
GOOD LUCK!

My baby has cradle cap too. I tried dandruff shampoo and it worked but I felt like it was too harsh for her delicate skin. She started getting cradle cap at a month old. I have been using California Baby Tea Tree shampoo for cradle cap and it works so well! I have tried to go off of it and use other sensitive skin natural shampoos and the cradle cap always came back. I love this product. You can find it on diapers.com or at whole foods. good luck!

My daughter had cradle cap also. I was told to do the whole oil and comb thing and we were doing that 2x a day for weeks. Then I got a sample of Johnson's Soothing Naturals Lotion and tried it on her head. It made a SIGNIFICANT change overnight. And in just a couple of days it was almost completely gone. I was able to find a bottle of it at Target and have seen it at Vons also. It smells nice too.
Here's a link so you know what the bottle looks like:

Good luck!
