My son will be 1 in May and I want to have some kind of game for kids and the kids at heart. The only thing that I can think of a few. Like a relay race by taking a tablespoon and glass and the first team that fills the cup with water wins. Then there is always the pinata(sp). And pin the tale on the donkey and pick the number on the duck. The 10 - 20 question game about who knows my son the best. Pop the ballons by sitting on them. Passing the egg under the chin. The other game which can be a lot of fun is giving a older adult a kids toy and try to have them figure out how it works. Can anyone think of anything else?

What can I do next?

musical chairs is always fun. And you can even do sundaes with the kids. Have different ingrediants for sundaes and have the kids make their own. hope you have fun!

You've got a lot of good games already! Just a word of caution about balloons. Some toddlers love to put them in their mouths. If they pop and go down the throat, they become a choking hazard.

You can also Google "cub scout games". There are tons and tons of fun, simple games out there. I've been a cub leader for a while and I depend on those game resources. You might also consider doing a simple craft with the kids at the party. There are lots of ideas on the internet for crafts. Crafts can be a quieter activity time, and the kids will have something to take home with them that they've made.

I am wondering how long this party is going to be? My most succesful parties for my little guy invole no planned games and usually a dance party and some kids screaming and having fun with no real strict guidlines.

I have found that I we really need for a party is a good kid friendly cd two pizzas and a cake add friends and voila!! Party!!

Quite honestly... your son will probably play with the closest box, the kids will want candy, balloons, and cake, and the adults will only be able to participate if their kids are old enough to not need supervised for a few minutes... and if they're that old, they won't enjoy the birthday party anyway. It's your son's first birthday. You don't have to plan an elaborate party. Don't concern yourself with offending people, relax and do something your son will enjoy. Invite a couple of children from day-care or play-group or whatever. If he isn't involved with other kids daily, then don't have other kids at his party. Make sure HE'S the focus, don't worry about entertaining anyone else.

You have alot of great ideas. But doing something simple for 1-year-old will tend to bring him the most enjoyment. For my brothers first birthday my mother wanted a Noah's arc theme so we taped together three diffrent sized boxes to look like an arc and designed it so that the children could crawl through it. We filled it with stuffed animals and cut windows in it. The 1-year-olds had little to no intrest in the games we had organised and enjoyed simply playing in the cardboard arc. Best of luck with your planning!
