Child Not Talking

My son is now 16 months old and is not talking yet. He says a few words, like mommy and daddy and bubba for his baby brother, but that is it. I was just wondering is there something i should be doing to help him along. we do activities throughout the day and work on his letters and numbers, but he isn't really focused yet. my mom and grandmother are constantly on me about him not talking. 19 Month Old Only Using a Few Words and Babbling at Times

Hello Moms- My 19 month old son speaks about 8 to 10 words at this point and the rest is babbling. Even the words he does say are a little unclear. The doctor was concerned at our visit today and said if there wasn't improvement by his two year appointment that we would go the speech therapy route. He tends to resort to pointing and the few signs he knows (milk, please, more, finished, etc). I point out objects and repeat several times. I talk about the things we see and do during our day. Wanting to Teach Sign Language

I have a friend who said that teaching her daughter sign language before she was able to talk was helpful. She and the daycare taught her things like: please, thank you, more, hungry, thirsty, etc. My child is at home with me everyday and I would also like to teach these things. He is 3 1/2 months old...what age is appropriate to start this and how do I go about doing this.
