Help with 6 Year Old in the AM

We need any suggestions to get our 6 year old boy to follow his morning routine. He has ADHD and is on meds for it. He sleeps all night and has no problem getting up. But to get him to get dressed and eat then brush his hair and teeth has become a battle. A losing one at that. We have him pick his cereal so we are not forcing him to eat what we chose. I have a chart with the morning routine and times. He has a digital clock so that he can match up the times with the chart. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

6 Year Old STILL Does Not Eat Well.

My 6 year old still does not eat well. I wondered if anyone else had struggled with this. He has never, and I mean never, eaten a fruit or a vegetable. He will eat bacon, but no other meats. He used to, but will no longer eat cheese. He will eat cheese pizza and nachos. He eats a variety of carbs, sweets and junk food -- although he has limited access to that. HE is the youngest of 4 kids and the others eat fine. His main source of food is peanut butter (only on a spoon, no sandwich, no jelly) and chocolate milk (made with instant...

Staying Home with 5 Year Old

Hey everyone. I am a SAHM of a 5 year old little boy who is in pre k this year. I have two step kids, but they are not with us much. I have chosen to continue to stay at home instead of going out and getting a job now that my son is in school. In the area where I live most people do not understand that because most moms work outside of the home, and I don't know anyone else who stays at home once their children are all in school. I have no problem with moms who do work outside the home. Different things work for different families. Up...

How to Home School

I am actually a teacher and have spent the last 10years in the classroom. I am having second thoughts about keeping my children in public education, especially as I see my oldest ( a 4th grader) continue to struggle. I have a hard time balancing my dedication to the classroom and the needs of my husband and 3 children. I keep thinking and rethinking home schooling, or darn-it starting my own school, but I do not even know where to begin... I would love to hear experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly!!! Is this feasable or will I...

How Do I Tell My 5 Year Old We Are Moving Out of State?

My husband has recently accepted a job in another state. My 5 year old will finish the school year and then we will move. We have tried to get him excited about getting a bigger house and that that might mean he gets to have a pet, more room to play, etc. Then I tell him that we might have to make new friends because bigger houses are farther away. He then will say that we can keep our old house because he wants to be near his friends. How and when do I tell him we are going? How do I help him make the transition?

Yearbooks in Elementary School?

I received a flyer from my son's school announcing pre-orders for.... Yearbooks?!? My son is in Kindergarten! I'm having a hard time stomaching the idea of buying and storing 13 yearbooks! On the flip side i'm wondering if I will be the only parent that says no. I'm not sure it's worth making him be the only kid who does not get one at the end of the year. Does your child's elementary school do yearbooks? Do you buy them? @stitch, that is an interesting thought. I was less than pleased with the school photographer. The class...
