I am trying to look for a toy for my niece for xmas who will be 5 in January. My budget is around $20-25. My sister in law is very picky so I am hoping for a little help so she will be happy!! :) Thanks! She loves Justin Beiber but my cousin got her the doll already :(

What can I do next?

Zoobles, a Lalaopsy doll, squinkes, Calico Criters - all are big this year.

Also, there is so much Justin Beiber stuff out there - bags, pencis, pads of paper, etc. You can add to the collection!

My daughter is older, (she's 9) but she has never let age suggested by manufacturer's affect her opinion of whether she likes a toy or not.

She wants Fazoodles.

The crayola glow station is popular. Littlest Pet shop toys or a Justin Beiber ornament. :)

When my niece was about that age and a Hannah Montana fan, I didn't know what she had, so I got her a purse/messenger bag with the star on it..and filled it with a few small things according to the rest of my budget. My budget was about double yours tho as it was a combo birthday and Christmas gift..so I did a nightie that was about $12 with Hannah Montana on it...some plain fuzzy socks...then some other fan loaded items like pencils and nail polish, etc.

But she LOVED that bag...carried it with her everywhere with her "stuff" in it!

I got the pillow pet for my five year old son. He's been asking for that for a very long time.

My daughter will be 5 in February. She doesn't even know who Justin Bieber is! (thank goodness! LOL)

She loves to color & draw & cut things. So, crayons, Color Wonder Markers & books, coloring books, kid-safe scissors, pencils, etc. would be awesome for her.

Other things she is getting this year (be warned - Daddy is spoiling her from Egypt! LOL)...

* Leapfrog Leapster Explorer w/ a few games - does your niece have any Leapster or similar game systems? If so, you could get a new game, or if she has the Explorer I know they sell cards to download new games online.
* Legos
* Scooby Doo Wii game
* "Hold On Scooby" game - kinda like Jenga, but with a wall of "bricks"
* Hungry Hungry Hippos game
* "Santa Buddies" movie
* "Santa Paws" movie
* Crayola Crayon Maker
* Real Construction set (it's foam made to look like wood, and tools that you can actually use to cut, hammer, screw, etc & build things)

Daddy also sent her a laptop, but that's obviously out of your budget :) But does she like to play games on the computer? You could get her a new educational computer game.

Edit to add: She also loves the Littlest Pet Shop things (she LOVES animals), but she already has those, plus mine from when I was little! haha

My 5 yr old granddaugther would be very happy with a purse with a wallet, mirror, lip pomade, brush etc. inside. Anything girlie. I am so broke these days but got her a $20 doll with many accessories at Target for her birthday recently and she was thrilled. She loves gawdy jewelry too or nicer, childlike jewelry.

I have 5 yr old twins and they are completely different, so I get lots of different opinions on what they want! They don't know Justin Bieber yet either, thank goodness! lol
They are very much into crafts and coloring as well. They love the commercials for the crayola glow globe and other glow items. They don't actually have any so I don't know how well they work. If your niece has a Leapster, or Tag system, new games or books are a good choice. They are also into board games. Good ones for that age are Trouble (one of my daughters just got it and they all love playing it!), connect 4, monopoly jr. Play-doh items may be good as well. Now that they are a little older and can actually "sculpt" things better, they are getting into it again. My girls love puzzles, too. Or you could find a Pillow Pet pretty much anywhere now for about $20. My girls are getting them for Christmas, that was one thing that never changed on their list! Good luck and have fun. I think at that age, kids will be pretty happy with anything they get!

I'll admit that I'm a bit biased towards fun gifts that also have a creative/educational component to them - so I'd suggest something like a subscription to a children's magazine like Highlights, Ranger Rick/Your Big Backyard, Cricket, Nat'l Geographic Kids, etc. - esp. since all the young children I know *love* getting mail that is addressed to them.
