Gift Ideas: What Do 8 y.o. Girls like These Days?

My 8 y.o. son will be attending 2 birthday parties for two little girls his age in the next few weeks and I was wondering what are girls into at this age. I know Webkinz are popular, but I am certain they already have plenty of them. My son mostly likes video games or sports related stuff, so that doesn't help me at all. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated???

What can I do next?

Hannah Montanna, High School Musical, Jonas Brothers. My 7 y/o niece loves that stuff. You never go wrong with a little gift card to a place like Claires or Limited too.

Hannah Montana and High School Musical.. My daughter is 8 and my niece is 7 and that is ALL they want.. and they dont really even care what it is as long as it it is from one of those shows...

Anything Jonas Brothers or Camp Rock will be loved, this age also enjoys crafts. My 9 year old much prefers shopping at Michael's and Hobby Lobby over ToysRUs! And, believe it or not, girls like to play sports, too! My dgtr asked for a basketball and football for her birthday this year!

My 7 1/2 year old LOVES anything high school musical, Hannnah Montana, Webkinz, rescue pets, arts/crafts, jewelry, but if you want to go with something you know, games are always good. My daughter got a "Littles Pet Shop" go-fish game, and she loves it. We play all the time.

My almost 8 likes hannah montana, icarly, music, movies, beads and crafts. Craft kits are a great gift and most girls tend to love them. Even walmart has a good selection. My daughter also likes gift certs. So she can shop on her own.

Check with the local mall - ours here allows a "Mall Card". It is like a gift certificate but they can use it at any store in the mall! Then the girls can pick what they'd like to spend it on.

My daughter is almost 7, but she loves all the things that the everyone else has mentioned. Not knowing what things the girls may already have, I would go with the art supplies. My daughter loves that stuff and can never have too much! Paper, markers, colored pencils, a small sharpener, stickers and stamps- the list could go on and on. Make up a little basket with these items in it. You can find alot of it on the dollar aisles. Good luck and have fun!

Two of my daughters favorite gifts were magazine subscribtions. One to American Girl magazine and the other is Discovery Girl magazine. They are both geared for girls around 8-12 they are filled with advice, craft ideas and recipes. And she get's so excited to see them in the mail box each month.

My daughter is the same age and she loves anything that is Hannah Montana, another idea is a little gift basket you could make with things like lip gloss, kids jewlery is cheap and in that same section is everything a girl that age could want... Hope it helped.

When in doubt, give a gift certificate or cash. Some kids just like to shop for themselves. My son will be 8 in July and he loves getting money as does my now 5 yr old daughter.

I have an 8 year old sister and she just loves make-up. She is a girly girl and likes purses, jewelry or anything like that. As the other moms said as well, high school musical is very popular. If this little girl is really a girly girl then go down the 'pink' aisle.

I have started giving craft paper and markers, colored pencils, or crayons for birthday gifts. Girls usually like some sort of glitter writing instrument. It's much cheaper and it seems that kids (including mine) have way too much stuff!

My daughter is 7 1/2 ans she still likes barbies. She loves writing and drawing and crafty things. Mostly she LOVES High school musical stuff. You can't go wrong there. Check out the jewelry section of Wal-Mart for kids jewelry. They have lots of high school musical and hannah montanna stuff. She also likes purses with hsm on it and t=shirts.

happy shopping

my niece loves hannah montanna! and webkinz too

My almost 8 y.o. daughter received a neat little kit to make stepping stones. We did the project together just a couple of weeks ago and it was really fun for her and me! You can get it at Walmart. Also, any little scrapbook kit where they can do it themselves, or even simply go down the nail polish isle and load up on the 94 cent bon bon nail polishes and lip balms and put them in a little cosmetic bag. That seemed to be the hit at parties this year.

Good Luck!

I have 2 girls, 3 & 14 they are both obsessed with anything Hannah Montana! My 3 yr old says she wants to wear her "Hanna Tanna panties" every day. I bought a Hannah t-shirt for the little one at Target last week for $7 & when we got home the 14 yr old actually pouted when she said "I want one" You can't go wrong with Hannah!

Gift Cards to Justice, Webkinz (you can never have enough!) and American Girl stuff.

Hi R.,
My daughter really liked Littlest Pet Shop toys, even through the age of 11. She had quite a collection!
L.

I would say Barbies or Bratz dolls/misc. items. Gift cards are good also.

We have a boy, sorry can't think of anything else.

We like to give things like craft sets, or science sets. Walmart, Target, Michaels, etc have all kinds of sets to choose from :)

My daughter is 8 years old & of course loves all the things mentioned. The best gift she got was a cute little purse (Hanna Montana) it had a wallet in it with a gift card in it with 10.00 credit. She loved it. She thought she had a credit card to the world! I would also like to mention that the nail polish, make up etc is fun, but if your birthday girl is like mine, she has tons of that stuff anyway. My daughter gets a truck load of that stuff each birthday & we end up throwing it away. I also have to hide it from her so that I dont find it on walls, carpet, etc. Good Luck with your gift. I also have a business www.kimbows.vpweb.com. I make adorable bows & bottle cap necklaces if you are interested. Thanks!

Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and webkinz always go over well. Or I go with the invitation. If it's a Bratz invite chances are that's what she's into. But I also always check with Mom when I RSVP for the party, that way I avoid repetition. Plus you never know what is banned in certain houses. My sister REFUSES to have anything iCarly or Hannah Montana in her house.

I have a 7 year old daughter and she is mainly into High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Bratz dolls, crafts (especially bead bracelets), and Webkinz.

My 7 y/o is obsessed with *Hannah Montana!*
Target also has a really neat craft isle with cool things for girls this age to make priced around $10-12.

Take Care!

My daughter is 13 now but at 8 she enjoyed..... Bratz, LOVED stuffed animals, at the time she had a gameboy she played a lot, she loved crafty things, especially the black velvet like posters/jewelry boxes that you color (Hobby Lobby, Target Michael's craft items are always fun).

That is just a few things I recall her enjoying. Of course, a favorite is a gift card!!!
