Gift Ideas for a 5 Year Old Girl

Two weeks ago my family moved to a new state. We have only had a chance to meet a couple of our neighbors. One of which invited us to her 5 year old daughter's birthday this coming weekend. She thought it would be a great chance for us to meet the other neighbors. The birthday is a come and go as you please party in their yard. They will also be inviting other neighbors from the surrounding few blocks. I also think this is a great opportunity to become part of our new neighborhood. I have only one child, a 22 month old son, so I have...

401K & Foreclosure

My husband and I are having a lot of financial struggles... since I started working first shift, and we've begun paying for childcare, we haven't been able to afford our mortgage payments. We haven't paid on it in 4 months now. We are now going into foreclosure. My husband has taken a withdrawal from his 401k so that we could avoid the foreclosure, but we got the check a few days too late. We have tried contacting the mortgage company to see if we can set up payment arrangements to pay our arrearages and get caught up on everything, but...

I Have Had It with My 5 Year Old!!

If you guys read my post regarding my defiant 5 year old, then you know all about the tip of the iceberg. The straw that broke the camels back: she just intentionally stepped on a brand new picture frame. (why was it on the floor? it was in the corner, blocked off by the couches, in a 'safe spot' -or so I thought- so it wouldn't get knocked over or broken before I could hang it. NO ONE has ANY business even being in that corner. It was under an end table for crying out loud). I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS BEHAVIOR IS COMING FROM. I...

Living on Credit Cards

Financially we are quite a mess, and at odds as to what to do! So please, any advice would be helpful. Our credit score is excellent, we manage to pay things on time, because we keep borrowing from our credit cards. We are over 115,000 in debt, and that does NOT include the large mortgage. We are an average family, we don't make a lot of $, we bought a home too expensive, and had debt going into it, but now it's way worse. We are not upside down, just have more going out then whats coming in. We'd like to keep good credit, because...

6 Year Old Asking for Money

Hello Moms, I am not sure if this has happened to any one of you. So my son started kindergarten this year and they have treat sale once every week and have vending machine in school. Everyday my son ask for a $1 to buy something. I told him I can not give you everyday but some days are ok (am I being unreasonable?). It is not that I can't afford to give him every day $1 but I want him to understand you can't get it everyday. He says he buys icecream with it. I told him we have so much ice cream at home or I will take him out to eat ice...
