my son is potty training and will need underwear soon. He is 2 but very small for his age. He wear a 12 or 18mnths in pants, and I can't seem to find underwear smaller then a 2T. I have looked at walmart, target, and babies r us.

What can I do next?

JC Penney and KMart are the only places that I could find XS undies! They have them for a true Size 2. Buy cotton and wash them- they'll shrink!

I'm pretty sure they don't make them smaller than that b/c most kids aren't potty trained before that size. I would just buy the 2T and try them (if you haven't already) - the boy kind have that thick elastic band around the waist, so they should stay up fairly well. My daughter just turned 3 and is fairly small - she picked out boy underwear - she liked the characters better. I think we actually got her 3T - and they are almost too tight for her.

I was able to find some small Gerber training pants in 2T that fit my DD who is also small. The 2T rubber pants were HUGE but the training pants were OK.

My son was the same way. We never found anything smaller than a 2t. They were a little baggie, but nothing horrible. It worked.

I have the 2T/3T from Hanes and have shrunk them in the washer/dryer. The elastic is good (great, actually) quality and fits snug enough and the leg openings aren't huge. I got them at Target.

Gerber run big in my opinion and I had to return a bunch of them. Also, not a snug enough waistband to hold them up :(
Their sizing runs:
18 mo = 24-28 lbs or 30-32 in
2T = 28-32 lbs or 32-34 in
3T = 32-35 lbs or 34-38 in.

I would look at Gerber brand. I know their pajamas and onesies run small in size, so maybe you will have some luck with the size 2 underwear.

Gerber makes 18 month size training underwear. Also, I've found that the Kohl's 2/3 size character underwear runs small. I have a girl who is very small, and found that those worked well. The Carters tend to run large.

My daughters are small too but we just bought the 24 month ones at target and they were fine. We also used the vinyl covers. Good luck!

The superhero/theme kinds seem to run the smallest. We're in the same boat.

I think the smallest size is a 4. I've found that a 4 in the Cars/Star Wars/Superman...styles seem to be smaller than a Hanes or something like that.
