I don't fax.....I scan and email, but this does fax, I've just never used it.
I love my Epson workforce 633! Prints docs great, fast, never jams. And it can go wireless so the kids laptop can print too! It was around $100? maybe a little more. I've had it for 4 months and it's been great.
I had a Photosmart and hated it, sent it back. Never used it to print photos (hubby bought it for me). It was way too "needy" for me. Every time you changed a cartridge you had to realign, print page, run some printer head cleaning option blah, blah, blah......Finally it just stopped printing anything good.

I use a Dell 940. It works great. Its a printer/scanner/fax/copier. It works great but it has a few years on it so I am not sure if they still make this particular model.

I don't have a particular recommendation, but don't forget to check the life of the ink cartridges and their cost. The up front cost is often fairly minimal compared to what you will spend in ink over the life of the machine.

We have an Epson Workforce and it is the 600 series. We've had it about 3 yrs and LOVE it. It is wireless so it is SO nice to just click print and it is there waiting on you if you print from another room!
We paid less than $200 from Best Buy. We buy the higher quality Epson Ink which is more expensive but lasts longer.
I keep an extra set of ink cartridges on hand (I have a teen who prints a lot for school) and when I buy an entire set if not on sale or with NO promos it is around $100 but I always have in-house coupons up to $20 automatically on my account with Staples due to the reward card and returning empty ink cartridges for recycling.
I do a lot of scanning, printing, including pictures and some fax and we've never had an issue with this machine. I'd certainly recommend the Epson's.
